lets just hope gitter remains as an interface for some time
because it is quite straight forward, and easier to get people on gitter than on matrix
Mark Hughes (happybeing/theWebalyst)
@happybeing
They refer to this and other issues in the blog, so hopefully they'll manage the transition well.

is there an example of creating a turtle file with rdflib.js? I'm looking at the documentation and at at https://linkeddata.github.io/rdflib.js/Documentation/webapp-intro.html but I must be missing something
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
@tsojcanth yes, do you want POST or PUT?
tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
put
@michielbdejong I already have a store set up with triples (or quads if necessary) and I think I should be using UpdateManager.put() but it's not clear how

@tsojcanth http://solid.github.io/solid-ui/examples/notepad/#notepad has an example which uses kb.updater.put

Is theer a python library for doing solid authentication on the command line?

My talk about Solid at Nextcloud Conference starts now, live-streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtnbAf8uQ-M&feature=emb_logo
It's a 5 minute pre-recorded video talk + live Q&A afterwards

is there a facility in the solid ecosystem for digital signing? it would provide message-level verification and authentication.
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
most people would then probably use w3c-vc's for that

What could be done ? I feel it is a terrible mess after 2 1/2 years.
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
I hope and trust that Melvin will reconsider and transfer the domain to the solid organization or something which will take care of it
Justin Bingham
@justinwb
in the meantime we’re working on some fast alternative options for people - stay tuned

Some application are using https://solid.community/common/popup.html to login as indicated in https://github.com/solid/solid-auth-client. It is not working anymore.
It must be replaced.
I use https://inrupt.net/common/popup.html

Maybe solid.community should look at taking on investors to fund the project instead of relying on donations of time, would it not be prudent to consider altrernitive options? Inrupt has investors to support its vision, why not solid.community?
Tom Gallivan
@sideshowtom
Donors, not investors. Like public libraries, the brick and mortar kind.
Mike Adams
@mikeadams1
@sideshowtom agreed that donors is prefered in some instances, but in this case, i think that maybe Inrupt could take over solid.community because they have the investors to support the vision. Also, as many are aware, I donated inrupt.community domain to inrupt @melvincarvalho why not consider doing the same?
Tom Gallivan
@sideshowtom
@mikeadams1 That was good of you but we should move beyond Inrupt if possible.
Mike Adams
@mikeadams1
No,no,no! Inrupt has taken the lead on this project and promised to bring solid.community over the line!
Tom Gallivan
@sideshowtom
Solid is bigger than Inrupt. Hopefully.
Mike Adams
@mikeadams1
I know there are a lot of differences of opinion between the solid community and intupt however, we need to move beyond all of that, and creat a safety net so that solid.community can get back online.
Tom Gallivan
@sideshowtom
Its more about independence and motivation. I don't see the urgency. People knew their pods were experimental.
Mark Hughes (happybeing/theWebalyst)
@happybeing
I think this shows the susceptibility of the service and servers model. It really doesn't get us away from centralisation. We can do better than this if we're ready to abandon servers. One of the great things about the Solid specification and philosophy, is that by putting the logic in the client you can do this. This is what creates the synergy with Safe Network, and why I was able to create a proof of concept demo that had a Solid app running on Safe Network. I'm hopeful people will begin to get behind this at some point!
Mike Adams
@mikeadams1
Actually, it is not experimental, this was not an experiment, it is a prototype imlimintation of a solid server.
implementation
@theWebalyst 👍
Tom Gallivan
@sideshowtom
Before Solid on Safe takes shape (so to speak), we need a non profit organization to become a pod provider and provide promises about longevity and stability.
and privacy
Matthias Evering
@ewingson
@ewingson promises to do his (maybe) little part of the process...

I think it makes sense to try to get funding from somewhere.
