Its more about independence and motivation. I don't see the urgency. People knew their pods were experimental.

I think this shows the susceptibility of the service and servers model. It really doesn't get us away from centralisation. We can do better than this if we're ready to abandon servers. One of the great things about the Solid specification and philosophy, is that by putting the logic in the client you can do this. This is what creates the synergy with Safe Network, and why I was able to create a proof of concept demo that had a Solid app running on Safe Network. I'm hopeful people will begin to get behind this at some point!

Actually, it is not experimental, this was not an experiment, it is a prototype imlimintation of a solid server.

Before Solid on Safe takes shape (so to speak), we need a non profit organization to become a pod provider and provide promises about longevity and stability.

@ewingson
@ewingson promises to do his (maybe) little part of the process...

I think it makes sense to try to get funding from somewhere.
Maybe an existing organization would be interested

@sideshowtom
A non profit organization.
Or maybe we could just form one

The point of Solid on Safe is that it eliminates the need for a pod provider.

@sideshowtom
Yeah, but until thats working...
Can it pass the test suite? Also as far as I know Safe itself is not non profit.

I made a proof of concept so it is a long way from Solid compatible, but a start! Safe will be an autonomous network, not a commercial operation. Maidsafe Ltd. is a company, majority owned by a Scottish Charity The Maidsafe Foundation, and there are no other large shareholders in Maidsafe Ltd, just employees and small investors.
Hey all, the new domain for solid.community is up at https://solidcommunity.net. This should retain all of your pod data and account information from Solid.community
Let us know if you run into any hiccups!

@ewingson
@jaxxoncreed@team Huge thank you, works like a charm. community++. do we continue to use the gitlab group ?
Justin Bingham
@justinwb
@ewingson we’ll work on figuring out the support structure and mechanisms over the coming days now that we’re migrated over
Matthias Evering
@ewingson
@justinwb this migration done (in just one single day) was kinda a world class improvisation

Where is the link to change passwords? I suggest changing passwords should be at the top of the list of things to do for users after hopping over to solidcommunity.net
Hi Tim, Mitzi - hope you are doing well. I’m new onto the Github chat- please can you let me know where the Solid roadmap is that you referred to on the August solid world session.
thanks

@csarven
Users should change/reset passwords on solidcommunity.net
Remove solid.community from trustedApp list. Or consider replacing them with solidcommunity.net
@timbl I noticed that on migration to solidcommunity.net that blacklisted usernames were not blocked, is this a bug or a feature?
Ghost
@ghost~5bfd3ed4d73408ce4fb0367e
Prior to Inrupt and soli.community implementing the blacklisted user name list, I had registered a number of pods with blacklisted usernames, should we consider surrendering those pods, or will Inrupt and solidcommunity.net close those pods out?
Hello, I would love to contribute to solid as part of an individual Special Problems class next semester. Is it possible for me to join and contribute?
jaxoncreed
@jaxoncreed
Sure! What are your main areas of interest @CubeOfCheese
Billy T. Hernandez
@CubeOfCheese
@jaxoncreed I'm not sure. I feel like i don't know enough about Solid to have a specific interest yet. I've read through most of the website and looked through the forum a bit but I don't know what is yet to be done. Like what the next steps and plans are.
The only thing I could think of so far would be to improve the user experience of the community pod interface
