Hey all, the new domain for solid.community is up at https://solidcommunity.net. This should retain all of your pod data and account information from Solid.community
Let us know if you run into any hiccups!
Matthias Evering
@ewingson
@jaxxoncreed @team Huge thank you, works like a charm. community++. do we continue to use the gitlab group ?
Justin Bingham
@justinwb
@ewingson we’ll work on figuring out the support structure and mechanisms over the coming days now that we’re migrated over
Matthias Evering
@ewingson
@justinwb this migration done (in just one single day) was kinda a world class improvisation

Where is the link to change passwords? I suggest changing passwords should be at the top of the list of things to do for users after hopping over to solidcommunity.net

Hi Tim, Mitzi - hope you are doing well. I’m new onto the Github chat- please can you let me know where the Solid roadmap is that you referred to on the August solid world session.
thanks
Sarven Capadisli
@csarven
  1. Users should change/reset passwords on solidcommunity.net
  2. Remove solid.community from trustedApp list. Or consider replacing them with solidcommunity.net
  3. Remove solid.community from pod/IdP lists
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Hi @trpstar . The roadmap is has moved with all of solid.community to solidcommunity.net — so https://solidos.solidcommunity.net/public/Roadmap/Tasks/index.ttl#this

I created a repo to use an an issue tracker for operational issues on solid community.net https://github.com/solid/solidcommunity.net_operations/issues .. I imagine there maye be bunch early on after the switch.

@timbl I noticed that on migration to solidcommunity.net that blacklisted usernames were not blocked, is this a bug or a feature?
Ghost
@ghost~5bfd3ed4d73408ce4fb0367e
Prior to Inrupt and soli.community implementing the blacklisted user name list, I had registered a number of pods with blacklisted usernames, should we consider surrendering those pods, or will Inrupt and solidcommunity.net close those pods out?
jaxoncreed
@jaxoncreed
If people find any other issues with the migration report them here: https://github.com/solid/solidcommunity.net_operations/issues I’ll be looking into them throughout the day

Hello, I would love to contribute to solid as part of an individual Special Problems class next semester. Is it possible for me to join and contribute?
jaxoncreed
@jaxoncreed
Sure! What are your main areas of interest @CubeOfCheese
Billy T. Hernandez
@CubeOfCheese
@jaxoncreed I'm not sure. I feel like i don't know enough about Solid to have a specific interest yet. I've read through most of the website and looked through the forum a bit but I don't know what is yet to be done. Like what the next steps and plans are.
The only thing I could think of so far would be to improve the user experience of the community pod interface
Matthias Evering
@ewingson
I' m only one man and I have only 8 users on solidweb.org but I feel we could use a datasource in turtle like https://ewingson.solidcommunity.net/public/ttl/pod-provider.ttl (or, human readable https://configedit.wordpress.com/2020/09/27/4284-pod-provider-node-solid-server/ ) to generate the list on https://solidproject.org/use-solid/ .

Btw. Who is able to change "solid.community" to "solidcommunity.net" here:
https://solidproject.org/use-solid ?

Hm, web search is based on linked data, among other things. and solid is linked data. i have little or no idea about seo, but shouldn't it be "easy" to find pods or solid providers with the existing robots?

Matthias Evering
@ewingson
we have only a handfull of, and a google search for 'solid pod providers' doesn' t really help. gruss aus ostwestfalen

Improve pod interface ? I need help on Popock which aim to facilitate access to Pod's data, see

Yes. I have finished it and publish to github.io in a few minutes

Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
to solid.community users :
https://bourgeoa.github.io/solid-ide/ can now recursively convert all solid.community links to solidcommunity.neton .ttl .acl and .meta (all contentType='text/turtle)
It can be run on any pod and from root or on a folder basis. You can make a blank test.
You must login in options and add https://bourgeoa.github.io as trusted app in your pod.
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
Great!
I'll also publish a version of solid-auth-client / mashlib / node-solid-server next week that has the new domain name as the "Solid Community" option in the login popup.

You can fix each file one by one, then refresh page to verify (version 0.1.138)
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@scenaristeur popock is not only try to convert links (named nodes) containing solid-communitybut also text (literals). Is it on purpose ?
David
@scenaristeur
@bourgeoa I think 'yes', do you think literals don't have to be converted ?
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@scenaristeur This was an internal debate with myself and I concluded that it was mostly text not link related. As an example it could be part of the history of solid.community. So I decided to only convert links in an automatic process. With popock you only make a proposal, so everyone can decide.
tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
just wondering how to fix it, but I lost permissions to both browse and edit a folder and now i'm stuck with the folder forever. how can I get the folder back or at least delete it?
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
I don't think you can
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
It depends on if the folder itself has permissions set on it. If there is no permissions file for the specific folder, then setting default permissions on its closest parent with a permissions file could help give back access.
tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
yeah the folder has an .acl
