Sure! What are your main areas of interest @CubeOfCheese
Billy T. Hernandez
@CubeOfCheese
@jaxoncreed I'm not sure. I feel like i don't know enough about Solid to have a specific interest yet. I've read through most of the website and looked through the forum a bit but I don't know what is yet to be done. Like what the next steps and plans are.
The only thing I could think of so far would be to improve the user experience of the community pod interface

@ewingson
I' m only one man and I have only 8 users on solidweb.org but I feel we could use a datasource in turtle like https://ewingson.solidcommunity.net/public/ttl/pod-provider.ttl (or, human readable https://configedit.wordpress.com/2020/09/27/4284-pod-provider-node-solid-server/ ) to generate the list on https://solidproject.org/use-solid/ .

Btw. Who is able to change "solid.community" to "solidcommunity.net" here:
https://solidproject.org/use-solid ?

Hm, web search is based on linked data, among other things. and solid is linked data. i have little or no idea about seo, but shouldn't it be "easy" to find pods or solid providers with the existing robots?

Matthias Evering
@ewingson
we have only a handfull of, and a google search for 'solid pod providers' doesn' t really help. gruss aus ostwestfalen

Improve pod interface ? I need help on Popock which aim to facilitate access to Pod's data, see

Is there anyone working on a tool to migrate all reference to solid.community in ttl files in a Pod? Otherwise I'll look at it

Yes. I have finished it and publish to github.io in a few minutes

Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
to solid.community users :
https://bourgeoa.github.io/solid-ide/ can now recursively convert all solid.community links to solidcommunity.neton .ttl .acl and .meta (all contentType='text/turtle)
It can be run on any pod and from root or on a folder basis. You can make a blank test.
You must login in options and add https://bourgeoa.github.io as trusted app in your pod.
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
Great!
I'll also publish a version of solid-auth-client / mashlib / node-solid-server next week that has the new domain name as the "Solid Community" option in the login popup.

You can fix each file one by one, then refresh page to verify (version 0.1.138)
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@scenaristeur popock is not only try to convert links (named nodes) containing solid-communitybut also text (literals). Is it on purpose ?
David
@scenaristeur
@bourgeoa I think 'yes', do you think literals don't have to be converted ?
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@scenaristeur This was an internal debate with myself and I concluded that it was mostly text not link related. As an example it could be part of the history of solid.community. So I decided to only convert links in an automatic process. With popock you only make a proposal, so everyone can decide.
tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
just wondering how to fix it, but I lost permissions to both browse and edit a folder and now i'm stuck with the folder forever. how can I get the folder back or at least delete it?
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
I don't think you can
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
It depends on if the folder itself has permissions set on it. If there is no permissions file for the specific folder, then setting default permissions on its closest parent with a permissions file could help give back access.
tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
yeah the folder has an .acl
so I'm stuck with being ever unable to use that folder?
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
Unless you have access to the server directly, I'm afraid so :/
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa

@tsojcanth yes Vincent is right if your folder as no acl and that parent acl has not an acl:default.
If the folder as a bad acl you can :

  • ask the server admin if he is willing to delete the .acl or better to rename to .acl.txt (I used to do it on solid.community server)
  • or you can use solid-ide https://zeff-zucker.github.io/solid-ide
    -- to zip and then export each folder contained in root. It will export content where you have access.
    -- Then you can delete your pod and recreate it.
    -- Import and unzip back.

This is a lengthy process.
I have on my planning to add to solid-ide a full pod export/zip.

tsojcanth
@tsojcanth
@bourgeoa is this behaviour by design or it's something that is going to change? from a usability perspective it's not great
Vincent
@Vinnl_gitlab
There are people working on proposals to allow at least the owner of the Pod to always regain access, IIRC.
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@tsojcanth One limitation of the solid-ide solution is that on the bad folder all folder content is lost. Even if some can still be accessed.
Justin Bingham
@justinwb
@tsojcanth it will be changing
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Yes. It will track who us the pod owner and allow them always control access. So you will be able to write protect a file still and even stop yourself reading it but you will always be able change that back.
At the moment the server doesn’t have a concept of a pod owner.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
aveltens Good to hear that. It is a source of great frustrating
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Meanwhile you could ask an admin for the server to fix it for you.
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
@tsojcanth I'll work on this in solid/node-solid-server#1489

not sure in which forum to say that moving https://solidos.solid.community/ to https://solidos.solidcommunity.net with no re-direct or tomb-stone created broken links.
What is the benefit of this renaming?

Justin Bingham
@justinwb
@michielbdejong the latter was a placeholder, and the former (https://solid.github.io/authentication-panel/solid-oidc/) is the actual draft of the solid-oidc (renamed from webid-oidc) specification. It’s currently going through some review iterations before it is submitted to solid/specification, at which point it will replace the placeholder. All feedback welcome on the draft! Issues and/or PRs welcome.

A very beautiful good morning for all those for whom it is morning!
Whats the best solid profile editor ?
naturzukunft
@naturzukunft_gitlab
And does anybody knows a app that builds a graph of friends?
Michiel de Jong
@michielbdejong
@naturzukunft_gitlab There is the Solid OS one you see when you visit your profile while logged in as yourself
Then there's the one that shipped with version 1 of Inrupt's React SDK: https://generator.inrupt.com/profile
And a few more, like https://profiles.veltens.org/. Search for 'profile' in https://solidproject.org/use-solid/apps
