it is confusing a bit. I need to dig a bit more to really understand what is going on.

@bourgeoa quick question: should there be a recursive delete of folders? There is a function deleteReursive but it does not work if I have more than 2 nested folders. (folder in folder). If i have folder in folder in folder it only deletes 2 out of 3.

Ok I found a bug ticket and because the fix goes across 2 repos I needed to create 2 PRs:
solid/folder-pane#23 and solid/solid-panes#304
Pls feedback.

Hei there.
I am working since Monday on adding a new drop down in the header which links to user guide and to the git issues. Irregardless of the feature, which we can talk about it on the PR, i have a hard time to build solidOs with the new solid-ui branch (where the changes are).
I tries the usual how to build (https://github.com/solid/solidos/wiki/DevelopingWithSolidOS). And I even tried building one module after the other BUT i do not know how to add the local branch/projects to solidOS. npx lerna bootstrap --force-local does not work here.
-> basically my new feature is implemented, ready to be tested in solidOs but I do not know how.
I developed it by using storybook.

@theRealImy
Team SolidOS meeting notes 29.09.21:
  • auth-upgrade - A new (and maybe hopefully final) PR was done for auth upgrade. Alain to update stack and deploy on testserver to try it.
  • Jackson will give a code review for the team about what got changed - first proposal is on the 13th Oct 18:00 CET (instead of the usual team meeting) @angelo-v can you participate?
  • an interesting point was made about creating test cases on the bugs encountered in the auth-upgrade.
  • Aaron offered to give the team a know how transfer about auth too -> team agrees to have this planned after code review, with scope of knowing what the future auth will look like.
  • the team talked over different scenarios of logging in on different pods with same ids and such, more discussions to be added and followed here: solid/solidos#55
  • the solidOS readme is going to get an update in a PR next days, based on https://github.com/solid/solidos/discussions/63
  • and from the spec meetings there will be soon a pool going around asking us what are our upcoming priorities for solid spec
    Thank you all! If something was forgotten please add.

In a separate node, Jackson nicely got us started and excited on the auth upgrade knowledge transfer and told us that the code changes involve 3 points:
1) field names changed
2) no more token nesting
3) no more using local store
If you are like me and want to know more about them don't miss the code review about it. Date is to be settled so stay tuned for the announcement when it is going to be (roughly in about 2 weeks).

@bourgeoa - I can't reach the test server, is it operational?

It has been stopped by jackson. Back online now.

Works on the server-side mashlib, does not on data-kitchen :-(
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
Is the mashlib alpha at latest? Does it pull in all changes in other libraries without symlinks?
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
@jeff-zucker none it is the previous mashlib 1.7.5-alpha-d9bd19aa manually patched by @jaxoncreed. I try to publish new mashlib soon.
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
thanks, I rebuilt everything but still not sure I am working from same mashlib. Is there a URL on solidcommunity.net:8443 for mashlib.js that I could use as a CDN?

HOORAY! YES! latest mashlib/NSS logs out properly in all three contexts -server-side, webapp, and data-kitchen! Great work everyone!

@jeff-zucker @jaxoncreed @timbl @theRealImy @SharonStrats
mashlib@1.7.5-beta is running on solid test server https://solidcommunity.net:8443

  • logout is working properly.
  • All panes should be tested.
  • old index.html panes on root with old login/logout do not use DPOP
  • index.html register (NSS server page) should be updated for login. May be @theRealImy has some ideas

I had a lot of problems building solid-panes. Will need help with typescript issue.

Interesting these problems with index.html pages calling old login. What was the path there? Did they use their own frzen mashlib? What were they using as a login library and can we update it?

That's wonderful news!! I'll do some testing this weekend as well.
I have finally fixed the problem with the menu selector if someone could approve my PR please solid/solid-panes#305

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find an issue for it though

Interesting just loging in to https://solidproject.solidcommunity.net/ with solidproject as a user
I get: "error:1420410A:SSL routines:SSL_renegotiate:wrong ssl version"
Good job @SharonStrats with solid/solid-panes#305 — that has been annoying everyone for ages but not enough for them to fix it.

I also just release a new PR related to documentation which got me to create a new header menu item. Check it out and feedback: solid/mashlib#125
P.s. @jeff-zucker all my build issues were because the solid-ui code I created first was not affecting the header in production 😅 @SharonStrats helped me sort it out. And npm start -- --reset-cache does work and help if npx lerna bootstrap --force-local does not.
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
@/all shall I integrate Data-Kitchen and CSS into the SolidOS build process and documentation? Basically npm add both of those and lerna link DK to mashlib and CSS and describe a development process for running DK/CSS in live-reload (watch) mode.
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
The whole NPM methid seems to give us a system which is reliable or dependable. if we couple yet more things together we might make it incrememntally more unstable! What sort of integrarion were you thinking of — that I would treak solid-ui and then all three would b rebuilt?
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
I was thinking that rebuilding either mashlib or CSS would show up live in DK, changes in solid-ui would need to be built , also editing mashlib.js with no building would show up live
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Sounds like a reasonable way to go
Jeff Zucker
@jeff-zucker
It shouldn't interfere with the current build process ... devs can either test against NSS using existing or test against CSS/DK with the additions.
Alain Bourgeois
@bourgeoa
You can add a parameter to scripts/watch --all or equivalent

@timbl I have a little issue I wanted to run by you with regards to "Show your Profile" in the menu not working. After investigating I see that the reason it isn't working properly is that it sees that it is exactly the same page it's already on. Because even if you click on "Edit my Profile" it is still on "https://.... profile/card#me". So when you click on Edit then back to Show my profile, to the browser nothing has really changed. I have found a solution, but I have a feeling it's not the correct one. I think you'll have a better idea. My current solution is to instead of making it an a tag, I have made it a button with a click, and in the click handler I do this () => { window.location.href = user.uri location.reload()}
I'm wondering though how this will affect the auth, that might actually make them have to relogin, so maybe there is more I have to do here or maybe there is a better solution.
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
ALl the dashboard things are sort of meta space where we are not really in the web of linked data.
The dashboard is for things out of gthe normal workflow.
In this case we can’t just go and look at the person, as we are looed in and will gett aneditable view. So we have to either make ansdbox with no log in, and show the user ID in that so they get whjatvertyone else gets, or we specfically invoke the profile pane you make sure hey get the profile view (and make sure it is nopt oversmart about realizing who they are).
Tim Berners-Lee
@timbl
Your window.location.href = user.uri will cause it to show the right object but it won’t eliminatd the login, and it won’t force the prolfile view.

hmm, the only thing is that this is from the login menu and should be showing the logged in person their own profile i think. in the current way a link is created to their own webid. but because their webid is technically the page they are on it won't prompt a refresh and stays on the tab their are on.
