That doesn't change the statement I made does it? There is no redis starter.
There may be a bug in the BOM
(Looks like there is, thanks)

how can i work around until fix?
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Mar 27 2016 09:04
I don't think it ought to affect you
Don't try and use the starter because it doesn't exist
(Fixed in 9f55dec)

Mar 27 2016 09:07
That's the Spring Cloud Stream docs
Fabian Wallwitz
@cforce
Mar 27 2016 09:08
yes .. so you mean there is no managment by spring cloud for spring cloud stream?
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Mar 27 2016 09:08
Probably they will want to update that so it doesn't refer to redis. The redis support moved to its own repository/
no managment by spring cloud for spring cloud stream
who said that?
There is no spring-cloud-starter-bus-redis. That's all I said.

Mar 27 2016 09:09
There is no such starter now.
If you want to use redis with Spring Cloud Stream you can
Fabian Wallwitz
@cforce
Mar 27 2016 09:09
ok
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Mar 27 2016 09:09
But it's not recommended for production use
and the support isn't provided by the "main" Spring Cloud Stream project
It's a separate repo
Fabian Wallwitz
@cforce
Mar 27 2016 09:10
so the http://cloud.spring.io/spring-cloud-stream/ is bugged / outdated ..?
Dave Syer
@dsyer

The documentation is misleading, I would say
I don't know if it's wrong
(Those artifacts might exist still)

ok
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Mar 27 2016 09:11
That doesn't change.
The starter does not exist
But the binder for redis is still there in the new repo.
So you can use it as long as you know that it's not really supported in production
Fabian Wallwitz
@cforce
Mar 27 2016 09:12
there is a blog by @spencergibb ..he also uses this starter ..its wiedely ..used for the fact it shall not exist ..
easter egg ;)

Sorry. It's the Spring Cloud Stream team's decision, not to support it
They have their reasons.
Fabian Wallwitz
@cforce
Mar 27 2016 09:14
of course .. however the doc is a lot misleading .. and didn't see any news about discontinued support ..
i open a ticket for the spring cloud stream team ..
and then i try to remove spring-cloud-stream-bus-redis and use spring-cloud-stream-binder-redis instead ..-
hopefaully there is a starter..
shall i open a ticket for "removal" of spring-cloud-starter-bus-redis in spri ng cloud deps also?

it looks like the move of the redis topic complety is not sycned in spring cloud bom .. spring-cloud-starter-stream-redis looks also wrong versioned..
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Mar 27 2016 11:10
The spring-cloud-dependencies bom has no reference to redis now
So it can't be the wrong version
