@dsyer Just joined. #cheers. Can you confirm your email as GCP converts your email from googlemail.com to gmail.com but I am assuming it doesn't make a difference.

They are aliases for email. Don't know about GCP.
I have your sample running in my account now. It looks fine to me.

Good. Yes it does seem to start without a hitch.

But I did change the basedir so it would work on my laptop as well

Had some issues with the health check on this but other than that fine

basedir: ${user.home}/tmp/config

How did you do that? I was looking for that configuration.

I tried hitting it with ab and it still works fine

I added david.syer@gmail.com to my GCP account. You should be seeing it on your end.

In GCP?
Or in my email?
I wonder if that "~" in your directory name is the issue?

There is no reason why it sometimes fail but once it does, there is no other way than to restart the app
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Jun 23 2017 09:47
Why don't you change it?

Ah right!

I don't really see why it would be a problem. But it's weird.

I think there was another issue I solved by someone recommending to do that plus the force pull. How about I remove both?
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Jun 23 2017 09:49
I don't think it matters about the pull
Concurrency Level:      10
Time taken for tests: 43.931 seconds
Complete requests:      100
Failed requests:        0
I don't know what else I can do to make it fail

Alright, I am going to redeploy this and and see if it fails in the next 24 hours.
Will close to the ticket on Github if I cannot replicate.
Thank you Dave! Your time is appreciated.

I'm kind of surprised it works at all (I thought the filesystem was read only in GAE)
Maybe they changed that
I can certainly believe that they might delete files/directories without warning.

Yes in flexible they did. You get 1Gb of ephemeral disk space to play with
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Jun 23 2017 09:52
How do they define "ephemeral"?
If they are allowed to mess around with it without telling you, then you could find that git fails because the lock file is deleted.

Disk space init-ed in each startup
Dave Syer
@dsyer
Jun 23 2017 09:54
Should be fine. But I'm still suspicious that this is where your app is failing.

Going to take her for a spin and let you know. Outside of Spring proper in any case so need to figure out a plan b
