Spring Cloud discussion and questions
Aug 06 2017 09:18 UTC
I am not trying to run Spring on lambda, rather a comparison of lambda (any lang) versus Spring Cloud as the stack. Thanks for answering me

You're asking to compare apples and oranges, aren't you?
Spring Cloud has answers to some questions that apps running in lambda might have, just as much as an app running in bare metal.

not really. I proposed Spring Cloud as the way to go with microservices, however there are many co workers who say "why not just use lambda and API Gateway". I dont have all the answers, hence I ask
so we would not use Spring at all or even Spring boot on lambda. simply that services will be written to run on lambda, say even Python, nodejs etc and use API Gateway service

So where will you get your circuit breakers, distributed tracing, configuration management, integration tests?
I'm not saying you can't do that in python. But you can do it with Spring.
People generally choose python, node and spring for different reasons. I doubt it's very different in serverless.
