Has anyone performed and/or made available profiling data for the Spyder startup sequence? I'd like to try to improve startup speed.

@cjrh, I'd suggest hijacking debug print to print time elapsed since startup

does something prevent directly running spyder with cprofile?

@blink1073 That'll be where I start, thx.
@SylvainCorlay Usually with startup optimizing (especially with a big code-base), I end up with a mini-framework built around the profiler, I just wanted to make sure nobody else did that yet.

Sounds good (debug print), on Windows Spyder seems to be quite slow to load
And I am under the impression that when it happens is somehow related to Ipython...

Yes, IPython is extremely slow on Windows, and hardware speed seems to make little difference.

We might need to raise this issue directly with the ipython guys...
Or change the approach of how spyder starts Ipython in a way it does not hold back the rest of the startup process

I've noticed that python itself is slow to load on Windows the first time after booting.
