Hi spyder-team. Since the old console is gone in 3.2, I was wondering if the feature "show elapsed time" is also possible for the ipython console? I have gotten really used to always having this rough timing around without having to explicitly having to introduce manual timeits and periodically logging them manually.

@jpoeppel, sorry, that feature was not ported to the IPython console. Besides, I don't think we'll because it consumes too much CPU

@ccordoba12 that's too bad, but alright. I'll look into other ways to monitor my execution time then. Is it possible to run a script in a kernel and open another console linked to the same kernel? If so I could just store the starting time and use the other console to query the elapsed time when needed.

@jpoeppel, there's no way to open a console programatically. But you can open one using the Consoles > Connect to an existing kernel menu entry
