Hey guys, really appreciate all developers that create Spyder IDE
Personally, this is my favorite
I have a problem with maximizing current panel (shift + ctrl + alt + m) in Spyder 3.4.1
It doesn't maximize the current panel, instead it creates gray field on the left like this https://postimg.cc/image/vgzwku1lz/
just got 3.4.1 several hours ago, previously I use 3.1.4 for year

@mdtjan_gitlab This looks the same as the issue reported at spyder-ide/spyder#7693 .Do you have any info to add which may help us to track this down?
Are you on Windows? It works fine on my computer, which is running Linux.

@jitseniesen I use Ubuntu

I just run these:
conda update qt pyqt
conda update spyder

all dependencies should be the latest that stable right?

*Ubuntu 16.10

I have Qt 5.9.5; I'll have a look whether I can reproduce with your versions

yes, if I install Qt 5.9.6, I also see the bug. Downgrading with conda install qt=5.9.5 fixes the problem for me.
That will be helpful in tracking this down

@mdtjan_gitlab @jitseniesen Check spyder-ide/spyder#7693 for the full details, but I tested a number of platforms and configurations (Python, platform, pyopengl, and Spyder), and found that the key culprit, and the only factor making a difference, was going from qt <= 5.9 to 5.9.6.
However, there is the worrysome implication that since apparently PyQt < 5.9.6 isn't built for Python 3.7, users will have to stick with 3.6 with Spyder if they want to avoid the maximize problem.
