Perhaps the problem is caused by zeromq or pyzmq

You could try with pyzmq 17.0.0

Did you launch the right Spyder this time?

same command as i have been using when in the env: spyder --hide-console
then it says python has stopped working
CAM Gerlach
@CAM-Gerlach
Sep 19 2018 21:55
So that's literally all it says? No error message is printed to your command prompt?
IIRC --hide-console will hide that so you won't see it, so you obviously don't want that so you can at least see what's going wrong.

Is Qt installed properly? What is the output of conda list qt in the environment in which you're trying to run Spyder?
And just to confirm, what version of Spyder are you using?

^ BTW you don't need to take a full screen screenshot and upload it every time; just copy and paste the output with triple backtick above and below. Or just use Snipping Tool to grab just the window you want.

Did you install anything with pip or from conda-forge in that environment? Anything else non-standard installed there?
Paul Gureghian

its pretty clean except for the usual numpy, pandas, seaborn, matplotlib, scikit learn, scipy

Sep 19 2018 22:07
So just to confirm, none of that was installed from conda-forge or with pip?

@ccordoba12 Any ideas? Its obviously some kind of issue with Qt, but nothing's obviously wrong.
