I am currently trying to update spyder to 3.3.1. I used conda update spyder in the anaconda prompt and it finished downloading and extracting packages, but when I open Spyder it still says I need to update to 3.3.1. It also says python is still in 3.6. How do I fix this?

@TrevorDavis14_twitter Most likely, you updated Spyder in a different environment you're launching it from. Try updating it in the environment of your choice with conda update spyder, then launching it from there by running spyder. You can also update it specifically in the base environment, which is the one launched by default by the shortcut and if you don't select a particular environment, with conda update -n base spyder.

As I mentioned above, the start menu shortcut on Windows will launch the version of Spyder in the base environment, so if you updated Spyder in another environment you won't see that version when you launch via the shortcut, but rather the version in base.
