@hofingermarkus I think this is a good Idea. Maybe we can use the UMR to see if it's a user module or a packaged module with the error. I think that we might be able to highlight the most relevant sections of the traceback messages this way as well.

Hi all, I’m quite new with Spyder. I would like to know how I can highlight as warning the variable name which are not defined. My Spyder (Python 3.6) was doing it since tuday but now this feature is not working animore. Since it’s really usefull for debugging I would like to restore it. Many thanks!

@tortora.michele92_gitlab Make sure Preferences > Editor > Code Introspection > Analysis > Real-time code analysis is checked. If so, try restarting Spyder. If it still doesn't work, did you update any other packages around the time when it stopped working?
Also, try opening another file, typing some bad code, saving it and seeing if it works there.

I checked the Real-time code analysis box but still doesn’t work. I will check with another file maybe...
