@CAM-Gerlach Thanks

@CAM-Gerlach - Cheers! That helped. I also realized that the json file in the Docker container mapped to a local directory had the wrong permissions. Changing those permissions allowed the connection to go through. I now appear to have a connection to the Docker container.

Just curious though: is it normal for the IPython console on the remote kernel (in this case, run on a Docker container), to constantly be scrolling without user input? e.g.

ln[1]

@CAM-Gerlach

ln[1]

ln[1]

ln[1]

etc...

It's as if there's a polling between Spyder and the remote kernel. Maybe that's normal? I also tried just grabbing the json file via scp (which works), but the scrolling IPython console command line persists.

PS- thanks again for taking the time to help out, although make sure you get that downtime! I myself I'm tackling this between changing diapers on a wee little one. Not exactly conducive to troubleshooting, but I take the time where I can!

@dcd2_gitlab Sometimes I'll see double, very occasionally triple prompts which occur in short succession, but not continuous "scrolling" as you report; that shouldn't happen. Absent any user input, what is the frequency of the successive prompts appearing? Does it happen every time it is returned, or only some of the time? Does it ever stop? Does it impede you entering a command?

hi community. I know Ctrl + P opens File Switcher, which fuzzy-searches open files
(as in file names, not inside files)
Is there any way to fuzzy search for unopen files in the same project?
ie fuzzy-find an unopened file in the project
without having to use the GUI to navigate in the file/project explorer

@silviu-oprea You can search for any text within the file with the Find in Files pane and open it from there.

hm... is it looking at the file name as well?

Nope, unfortunately. But if its important, perhaps we could add that as a feature in the future.

@CAM-Gerlach - I'm counting ~3 secs between each successive prompt. It doesn't seem to stop, or at least it has not stopped for the past 5 minutes. It definitely impedes user input for anything but the shortest of commands. Running commands from the editor (e.g. Shift+F9) doesn't seem to be affected by this updating behaviour.

@CAM-Gerlach : here's an example of just typing continuously (I'm definitely not the fastest of typists):

In [17] the quick brown

In [17] fox jumpe

In [17] d over the laz

In [17] y dog

Is there anything you can suggest? Is this some sort of polling behaviour that can be adjusted, either within Spyder, or Docker, or is it just some sort of errant behaviour?

@dcd2_gitlab I'm not sure. @ccordoba12 , any insight?
