Can't install spyder

SSL connections not configured for this station

@gteruel Sorry, but I'm not sure how I understand how these two statements have anything to do with one another. Can you explain clearly and explicitly exactly how you tried to install Spyder, what precise behavior you experienced, where, and at what stage of the process, and the exact error message(s) you received, in order for us to provide you useful advice? Thanks.

@dcd2_gitlab, you could try to connect to your kernel with qtconsole to see if you get the same behavior. For that you need to establish the SSH tunneling by hand, as described here

@con1098 What .pkg? We do not offer Spyder as a ".pkg"; you'll need to contact whatever third party redistributor you got it from.

@con1098 Conda packages are managed directly through conda, e.g. conda install spyder. Furthermore, Spyder is already installed by default with Anaconda; it can be launched from the shortcut (Windows), Anaconda prompt/terminal, and the Anaconda Navigator.
@hoochang We have a debugging page right in our documentation.

The docs are a little slim, but you can find plenty of resources about using the non-GUI parts of ipdb online. Spyder 4 has a brand new debugging kernel (still being implemented) that is way more powerful than the old one, so you also have that to look forward to.

@ccordoba12 @CAM-Gerlach - following the instructions and running ipython qtconsole or jupyter qtconsole brings up a Jupyter QtConsole and Python prompt. No scrolling. Any ideas as to why I get the 3 second prompt update while using Spyder?

As an aside, I noticed a similar ~3 second update using the above approach. I had forgot to rerun the script for manual ssh forwarding on the appropriate json file, and after running ipython console, the Python prompt in the Jupyter QtConsole would update every 3 seconds or so, with a message Kernel died. Restarting. Not sure if there's any connection or not.

@dcd2_gitlab, that means that your problem is not a Spyder one, so we can't help you further. You could ask in one of the IPython or Jupyter gitter channels to see if they can help you

@ccordoba12 - I'll tinker a little more, but will reach out to them. Cheers! (thx @CAM-Gerlach as well...much appreciated).
