What's going on with Spyder variable explorer?? On my OS X laptop whenever I open it up it's polluted w/ so many system variables and functions I can't find my own variables. How can I hide them? On my linux machine it's clean.

@dinosg Have you tried using the show/hide settings under its Options ("Gear") menu? Other than that, do you have your preferences set to load Sympy, Cython and/or Pylab at startup, under Preferences > IPython Console, which adds those additional variables? Or is there something different about your interpreter configuration that would load different variables at startup? Other than that, there could be platform-specific differences with what Python loads and/or the Variable Explorer shows, but please try/rule out those other solutions first.

I use spyder but I have not conda or anaconda, so can you explain me how I can create envs, as you say ? I think Icannot say in a command line to spyder what python to use. Thank you and good week end.
Maybe I must install conda. I do not know it.

virtualenv/venv

I think Icannot say in a command line to spyder what python to use.

Then how are you switching between Python 3 and Python 2 now? Just use whatever means you normally launch Spyder under Python 3.

Maybe I must install conda.

We recommend Anaconda/Miniconda, but if you're fine with working around the limitations of pip/virtualenv on your own, then there's no need. Up to you.
