@mbleigh
@daskalou not necessarily. judges got to leave either public or private or both
daskalou
@daskalou
@mbleigh Strange, I can't seem to find any feedback (public or private) for our entry, do you mind taking a look? http://2015.staticshowdown.com/teams/wirely-coyotes
Maryna Aleksandrova
@marynaaleksandrova
@daskalou I can see this feedback on your team page "Had fun using this - simple interface, clean, good design. The usable space felt a little cramped at times but it didn't detract from what it sets out to do. I would definitely use this to walk an audience through a mockup. Nice work!" feedback is left by https://twitter.com/hallstigerts
daskalou
@daskalou
Thanks @marynaaleksandrova , I see it now too, it wasn't there before though, maybe a cache issue. I can also see one private feedback now on our /team page.

Just noticed winners are out now. Congrats to all winners, and thank you, all organizers! :D I think it’s now safe to make commits and deploy?
daskalou
@daskalou
Congrats to all the winners! It was an extremely fun event to be involved in, looking forward to next year's!
daskalou
@daskalou
@mbleigh There seems to be something funny going on with the judge's feedback. Sometimes it's appearing (both public and private), and sometimes it's not (usually the latter for me). Tried a private browsing session with cache turned off and the same issue exists.
Thai Pangsakulyanont
@dtinth
Maybe it's about CDN and caching stuff. I think Divshot should improve about this. Sometimes during production CDN update, the website becomes non-functional.
For example, when asset hashing is enabled, the file name change. The index.html is served with CDN with updated content, while the CSS file is served with CDN with old content. This means it’s 404 for CSS file which renders the page without CSS styling.
(This is observed in Thailand several months ago when the company I did my intern decided to use Divshot to host the company website. I understand that ensuring that a CDN is globally-reliable is really hard.)

@fastdivision
@dtinth Now that judging is over you're good to go now. It's safe to make commits and deploy.
Jake Johnson
@fastdivision
@dtinth Great feedback and definitely appreciated. There's certainly room for improvement and we're doing as much as we possibly can to ensure our CDN and caching behavior is reliable. It's our #1 priority. When you encounter this problem again please email support with the specific app and release so we can take a closer look. If we can keep track of occurrences with detailed bug reports it will help us isolate the issue faster.
Thai Pangsakulyanont
@dtinth
@fastdivision Thank you. Since I am not in that company anymore, I don’t know if the problem still happens or not. During StaticShowdown competition my app works fine when published to production. :)
Jake Johnson
@fastdivision
@dtinth Excellent. Glad to hear. Big fan of your app, showed it off to a couple people at our Web Components meetup in Los Angeles last week. They were all blown away by your work!
Thai Pangsakulyanont
@dtinth
@fastdivision Wow, I’m flattered. :) I think the way this app is structured can be improved. Right now, the UI and logic for each unit (synthesizer / filter) is scattered throughout the codebase.
Jake Johnson
@fastdivision
Of course! Such is the nature of hackathon code :) Every second counts so it's gonna be messy. Time to refactor and open source some of those components ;)
Looking forward to seeing you again next year and everyone else as well -- there were a lot of impressive entries, think I'll leave some feedback of my own now

Cool, thanks all and congrats.
Teodors Zeltiņš
@teodors
I think this feedback given to us is just BS.
From our judge Irina Vovkoriz we just got "animation is good and appealing start of application". That is it? That is the most generic comment ever. I could write that about any app.

@Teodors next year we will offer a subscription service where you can request DETAILED feedback. $99 per feedback.
proceeds go directly to the judges that want to rate you because this year they were 100% volunteers
Teodors Zeltiņš
@teodors

@kevinchau "hmm, that might be a good idea ..." is my freebie response. If you want to hear my detailed thoughts on your last message then direct a $49 payment to my PayPal account (use keyword DICK to get extra $10 discount). I am really feeling the volunteerism spirit here.

Okay, but in all seriousness. This feedback is just ridiculous. It's not so hard to provide a paragraph of real critical feedback - what was bad, needs improvement or was good. While review process had a few hiccups I get it, but from 2-3 reviewers you really can't squeeze out a paragraph? If you aren't going to provide a feedback then don't promise you will, because this wasn't a feedback and you know it.

No one wants to do it for free? Make a team entry fee that is not a horrible idea.

Anyway, I am not trying to be a dick. I appreciate everything Static Showdown organizers have done, but I just think this feedback thing could have been done better.

Are the 2014 winners still up? There's a winner from last year that I'd like to check out, but can't seem to find the list of prior winners.

@fastdivision
@Teodors I can see your point. Getting judges to provide detailed, critical feedback is very important to us. Ideally for every team that competes. We encourage judges to be critical and devote as much time as they can to write feedback when we bring them aboard. There could be some room for improvement in the judging interface to reiterate this in the instructions. Just want to let you know that we'll work on it and take your feedback into consideration for next year. Thanks for participating, good sir!

all prizes (i believe) have been shipped, but if you're outside the US we've seen pretty awful delays due to customs etc.

I get the above error on my github repo for staticshowdown any idea why ?
If it was due to the fact that is was private, please make it public I had forked it and would want to continue the work.
