DC9K@discord: I started running a beacon node. Do I need to run/connect to an execution layer node to be useful, or is that just for people who want to run validators?

liftlines@discord: A big milestone for Stakely and for Nimbus. 3500 validators on Nimbus and growing.

mratsim@discord: January 2020, time flies
chrishobcroft@discord: So, do you plug keyboards / monitors into phones and code directly on the device, or emulate them?
chrishobcroft@discord: Can't believe I wasn't aware of this.
chrishobcroft@discord: Anyone Validating on Mainnet on a Smartphone?
arnetheduck@discord: nah, type on screen - keyboards are so 10's.. @zahary and @mratsim find it convenient while holding a baby in their free arm

mratsim@discord: Termux, just type on screen.

But you can use a bluetooth keyboard.

A pledge requires 32 Geths. I've been collecting them at the faucet for several days, only 3.5. Headache, gentlemen, there's a better way. I can choose to buy them

Kelvin-c@discord: We are launching a project now, but there is so much money on the market from taps that too many people are getting into our test network
, so we want to obtain/purchase some Goerli ETH and distribute Goeri ETH by our exclusive address, but we have no channel to contact you. This is the only lame way to get in touch with you.
We are about to get 10K Goerli ETH. If not, we can buy it, but we hope the price will not be too expensive. We are a grassroots team.

Joshasd@discord: same or better validating efficiency but resource taken is absolutely outstanding among others.
Joshasd@discord: New version bring 250 mb reduce mem. But I see almost half mem usage then previous version.

fryorcraken.eth@discord: noob question and feel free to direct me towards article.
With the recent event. Does it mean we can access Eth1 blockchain data via Nimbus? Or Nimbus being a consensus node, we still have to use geth for eth1 data?

merp@discord: Hey
merp@discord: I had a question, i'm looking to set up a validator client which needs to run on 32 bit ARM (on an RPi); is it possible to set up Nimbus to run just the validator client itself?
Autobot
@status-im-auto

mratsim@discord: On 32-bit ARM a beacon node would be quite anemic anyway.

For VC alone, I think we are missing that section in the Nimbus guide because it's not the mode we focused on so far.

Yellow Whitesmoke Plankton@status: Okay....
So what do we do?
merp@discord: Yeah I intend to run just the validator client alone on the RPi. The beacon node and Eth1 nodes it’s connected to are on a proper computer
Yellow Whitesmoke Plankton@status: Ok

Yellow Whitesmoke Plankton@status: What's the next move?
Autobot
@status-im-auto

merp@discord: Is it possible to compile nimbus for mainnet where the validation client is it’s own separate thing?

It could make for safer setups. The Eth1 and BN don’t contain sensitive info so could be hosted on rented servers with no risk, don’t have info worth stealing, could make setting up failovers simpler (simply duplicate that image), etc.

Meanwhile the one thing actually containing valuable info (the validate client) can be kept safely at home (or maybe even carried on you, powered with a low bandwidth $3/mo IOT sim), with only the BN endpoint connection whitelisted.
