ah, no, that wasn't it - it was just a matter of setting an option to minimatch

If a file or directory path portion has a . as the first character, then it will not match any glob pattern unless that pattern's corresponding path part also has a . as its first character.

Hm, ok
Mohamed Shaban
@mshabaan
hello
How to set client name
the extension starts with wrong client name
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
Have you tried creating a .p4config file ?
Mohamed Shaban
@mshabaan
yes I have .P4CONFIG
but it is all caps. is it case sensitive?
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
it might be
are you on Mac or Windows ?
Mohamed Shaban
@mshabaan
windows. I tried to rename to .p4config but same problem.
this is the contents of .p4config:
P4CLIENT=<client-name>
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
you can also set perforce.client in your workspace settings
you should set something like:
P4PORT=perforce-server:2002
P4CLIENT=username_client
P4USER=username
in your .p4config
Mohamed Shaban
@mshabaan
Thanks. It worked after adding P4PORT and P4USER

regrading the .p4config file , it is not case sensitive you can name .p4config or P4CONFIG.
you have to set <perforce.client> with your client name even vs code gives 'Unkown configuration setting'

With the latest VS code update this looks to be broken. It asks to reload but after reload it doesn't change the state and asks to reload again

Are you on the Official or Insiders release ?

Hey Stef, I'm new to VS Code and extensions - but are there context menus for checking out files from the editor view with your extension?
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
When you have the file open in the editor, you can click on the P4 icon in the status bar, and select add or edit
Having context menu in the Explorer view is part of #37
bbi-wgoodall
@bbi-wgoodall
Ah gotcha, awesome thanks.

question, is there any way to collapse a changelist? my coworkers and I often have anywhere from 10 to 30 changelists going at once that can't be checked in and it'd be nice to be able to collapse the filelist for a changelist.
also, which command/button is the same as deleting a file from a shelf, i see unshelve, but i don't want to overwrite the current edits in that changelist
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
There is currently no way of doing that une the SCM section of VSCode, or at least with the May release.
sterling000
@sterling000
which? the first question or the second one?
stef-levesque

@sterling000
cool
i'll keep on eye on vscode release notes then :)
and stick with p4v :)

The plugin only have basic support for shelves, I would like to improve it a bit further
Drag-and-drop would be nice, for sure

@egegumus
Hey hey, after installing and enabling I still don't see anything under Source Control side bar, any ideas?
stef-levesque
@stef-levesque
Are you sure you have a valid perforce configuration in your workspace ? Otherwise it won’t show up
egegumus
@egegumus
Thanks, let me double check
vagrant7
@vagrant7
i have the same issue
what constitutes a valid perforce config
LincolnL
@lincolnlee0126
how to start to use the vscode-perforce, there seems no document about the usage
there is nothing in my source control panel even I installed this extension
even I input perforce command, it shows perforce command not found
Follow the steps in the Activation section
The default behaviour is to only activate the extension if a valid configuration is found
LincolnL
@lincolnlee0126
Thanks for the suggestion, I made a .p4config and perforce command works now.
LincolnL
@lincolnlee0126
how to create a p4 client with the perforce extension?
LincolnL
@lincolnlee0126
hmm, finally I created one p4 client and it works now. But it always show an error message that "ERROR: "File(s) not opened on this client.\r\n"". Even I did nothing and just open VS code or after every command
Michael Hagar
@mehagar
I just installed the Perforce for VS Code extension and then hit Ctrl + P -> Perforce.showOutput. But I got a "command 'perforce.showOutput' not found."
What's going wrong?
