Hi @SaturnTeam,
Just had a chat with Isha. I think it was really useful that you found the 100,000 points being a rough cutoff for reasonably responsive web page when rendering iscandar plots. So I was wondering if you could come up with some ideas on how we might be able to deal with more than 100k points - say 200k? Would you be able to come up with a list of possible options and perhaps we could spend a bit of remaining time you have with us to explore the options in prototypes?

@SaturnTeam
I'll back in Monday

Why https://stemformatics.org is not available? I almost wrote an instruction :(

@NegiIsha_twitter
lol
we are getting a big release out on saturday
we are busy with that
Othmar Korn
@othmarkorn_twitter
Hi guys, why do we need https://stemformatics.org URI?
We never intended for it to be anything but www.stemformatics.org
isha negi
@NegiIsha_twitter
Dmitry thinks stemformatics.org should also be available
Othmar Korn
@othmarkorn_twitter
Okay. So if we need to update our DNS records to fix something, then yeah we should do that, but we'd want a compelling reason to make Stemformatics available on different URIs - it would have ramifications for our Apache configs on many servers
SaturnTeam
@SaturnTeam
You could add only a DNS record. start website always with www - it's like 2000 year
SaturnTeam
@SaturnTeam
PLease check it out today or tommorow. I'll delete this fake dataset on Friday

Hi, I am a sophomore at BITS Pilani, India. I have experience programming in C, Java and Python, and recently I took up machine learning and web development too, but I am completely new to open source, and would like to start contributing and be a part of this community. However, I am currently overwhelmed at how much people in the community know that I don't. It would be great if someone in here could point out a few resources that I can refer to for all my doubts, get a hang of how things work around here and reach a stage where I can start solving issues (starting with those of Python HYDRA itself). Thanks in advance :)

Hi all,

Thank you for all your interest in working on Stemformatics projects. We really enjoyed all the interactions that came out of this gitter lobby last year and our involvement in the google summer of code as a mentor organisation.

Unfortunately this year, we do not have enough capacity to supervise students, so have decided to not participate in GSoC, nor will we be able to supervise students wanting to get involved in our projects without being a part of GSoC. We want to provide our students with the best experience possible and feel that this will be compromised in our limited capacity this year.

We will be aiming to come back for GSoC 2020, so stay tuned and any related news will be announced in this lobby.

@jarny
Dear all,
We're back! Stemformatics is planning to participate in Google Summer of Code 2020. We will have some projects up soon.
Meanwhile, have a look at http://stemformatics.org as a starting point if you're interested in getting involved. In particular, have a look at a new page we developed this year: http://stemformatics.org/atlas, and compare how much more modern it looks and behaves compared to many other pages on the site. It's likely that the theme of GSoC 2020 for us will be replacing legacy code and data.

@glenn124f
it looks nice, the plot is rendered smoothly as well. Is this computing PCA on the browser though?
jarny
@jarny
No it's precomputed. I'm also going to post the code that
builds it.

Hello everyone
I am Divyanshu Mahajan, a sophomore from BITS Pilani, India. I have good knowledge of NodeJs, ExpressJs, ReactJs, JavaScript, CSS and HTML. I am interested in contributing into this organisation for the GSoC 2020 and would love to be a part of this community. I am interested in contributing to the 'API Authorization' project but I'm also open towards contributing to other projects relevant to my skills. I would really appreciate if someone could guide me as to how I can begin with and what guidelines do I need to follow.
jarny
@jarny
Hi Divyanshu, welcome and thanks for your interest in our projects. Since it's Christmas holidays here in Australia, it may be a bit quiet for a few days but we will provide some starting points soon.
Divyanshu Mahajan
@dmahajan980
That's no problem. I completely understand.
Happy Holidays everyone!

@jarny
Hi everyone, we have updated our project description page to include more information on each project, including input/output sections and how to get started: http://s4m-gsoc.surge.sh/#/projects. Feel free to give us feedback.
