the latter is the one used for installations
They need to be synced “manually”, to make sure people get a consistent snapshot, because the first is being updated while the builds are being made
I have just synced
the problem you had with the hashsums was actually related me being messing around, see strands-project/robblog#4

the error is that you have ros-hydro-qt-build in your deps
should be qt_build I suppose
and a few others in e.g. <build_depend>ros-hydro-qt-build</build_depend>
you must give rosdep keys in the package.xml not ubuntu package names
run rosdep db and grep for what you’re looking for

Since this is a robotics centered project I am going to try and ask here. I've been looking for a day now for a program which will stream video and add text. ffmpeg will add the text but I want the text to change. The text will have telemetry data from the sensors on my robot hense it needs to be dynamic. Think of it just like a heads up display. This would seem so common that there should be ready made stuff for it. Does anyone know where to look?

Sorry @Legendaire , that's a bit too off topic for me to help you with. You can certainly write a ros node that augments image streams with text using opencv. And then you can stream that out on a topic again and also save into a video file. But I don't know any details.
