Hi, maybe someone could help me wiht an issue. Since a few days some streams on twitch via streamlink have audio laggs. 2 sec audio, 2 sec silence. Other streams work completely normal. I tried updating everything but it doesnt help. Does anyone have the same issue and does anybody know how to fix it?
Lint Hasenpfeffer
@MrLint
Hi all, I have also been experiencing this issue with most streams (but notably not others), So far the solution i have found it to flip the setting to skip the pre-roll ads on streams. This cleared up the audio hiccuping issues I was experiencing. If someone can confirm the same works for them, please post. Good luck.
Use the latest Streamlink version (development version) to prevent embedded stream ads
If you're having audio issues, then it's either caused by having embedded ads, filtering them, or by some other player related things
However, if you just use the latest Streamlink version, you will not get any ads
And please don't ask streaming questions here. This is not the point of this IRC channel, as Streamlink != Streamlink Twitch GUI.

im sorry to ask again. i dont understand anything in this thread. i barely managed to install homebrew and get streamlink working on my mac. i see commands in this thread but i have no clue where to put them in. in terminal it doesnt work. im using latest streamlink installed via homebrew. and i downloaded the twitch app via github but it plays ads and some of the streams have audio problems.

If you can't follow the install guides on the Streamlink install docs page, then just wait for the next Streamlink release, which will probably be tomorrow / later today (2020-09-21)

I am unable to watch through pot player ever since an update , and vlc runs a commerical and just crashes a million time. Anything i can do to fix this?
Sebastian Meyer
@bastimeyer
if you're seeing ads, then update streamlink to the latest version from the master branch
this will however require you to also use the most recent debug build from the Twitch GUI... check the readme
regarding potplayer, AFAIK, it doesn't support reading from stdin, which means you'll need to have the player-http option enabled

I had a question about the GUI, are you able to navigate the UI with a controller? I am looking for an alternative to the official app for my HTPC setup and this looked interesting.
Sebastian Meyer
@bastimeyer
No, controller and keyboard navigation is not built in

Quick questions: Is there a setting / parameter so that the python window isn't visible? I tried putting -Q or --quiet in the Streamlink parameters, but it didn't do anything so I don't think that's doing what I think it's doing.
You have selected the wrong executable
There is usually no reason to select a custom executable path, so just remove it if you don't know 100% what you're doing
DeVaulted
@DeVaulted
Hey there, I've just installed Streamlink & Streamlink Twitch Gui on an M1 MacBook. Streamlink works in terminal (= it's in PATH) , but the GUI gives me an "Executable not found" error. Anyone had this issue before?
DeVaulted
@DeVaulted
Made it work by using /opt/homebrew/Cellar/streamlink/2.0.0_1/bin/streamlink as the path inside the GUI. Doesn't seem optimal to me tho
ffomega
@ffomega
I was wondering if anyone else was seeing repeats of channels on their list of followed channels? It shows me 12 out of the many channels I am following, but after those initial 12, when I scroll down it reshows just those 12, even if I click the fetch more button, only those 12 repat in an endless loop

@DeVaulted: it's possible that macOS prevents the PATH env var from being inherited and it sets a different value on the app... I remember there was a similar issue in the past
the Twitch GUI has hardcoded fallback paths added for this reason
if something has changed on the homebrew side, then a new path needs to be added here that's working for all streamlink versions
@ffomega: This is a Twitch API bug which I can't fix. It's ignoring the offset pagination parameter in the API requests
This has happened multiple times now, and Twitch doesn't care about their deprecated v5 API. They break it all the time

@ProditorMagnus

I am trying to get streams working again. What I have done so far:
install python3.8 in addition to 3.5
update streamlink from 1.7 to 2.0
remove streamlink-twitch-gui 1.8
download streamlink-twitch-gui 1.11

Current status: 64 bit version kills cinnamon (and logs out) when trying to start it, 32 bit version gives errors about libraries, I managed to install 2 of them already, current one is: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-3.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

is there list of packages needed?
seems I found all packages, now 32 bit version too kills session
Toom
@ProditorMagnus
now I tried appimage too, it needed few new packages, and after that too kills session
seems that error message is org.freedesktop.systemd1[14085]: (process:14139): CRITICAL : Unable to acquire bus name 'org.freedesktop.systemd1'. Quitting.
Toom
@ProditorMagnus
only idea I have left is to try inbetween versions between 1.8 and 1.11, only issue before was --no-version-check
Toom
@ProditorMagnus
actually
I could put streamlink executable as my own script which removes --no-version-check
