When I click Streembit->New account and leave the fields blank and then click Streembit->Connect to public network it connects me with a random account. Then at the bottom I get messages like these:
There are no new messages for the account.
Sending contact request to (user on my other account).
I even was able to add people on one of the random accounts but of course once I close Streembit I cant recover the account
I also now see 5 seeds with my ip address under the network settings

Hi, this is an "architectural feature", on the other hand you have pointed out an annoying bug, because you shouldn't be able to use that random account once the new one is initialized. The reason the random account is used, prior to creating an account (your new account) the user must to connect to the DHT to lookup info whether the account already exists and most importantly to register the account on the DHT. Since you have no existing account, we use a random account to make the initial contact to other nodes on the network. Again, thanks for pointing out the bug/design problem - the random account should be terminated in the UI instance once the new account is created. Also, having your own account on the seed list is totally wrong. We need to fix that.

Ah that makes sense, would you like me to open an issue on the two bugs?

Yes, please. That would be very helpful, and thanks again for pointing out the bugs.

No problem! I have posted an issue for each bug

Try to setup Raspberry Pi with Streembit. Followed the guide but did not configured any device (I do not own that specific temperature sensor) since I am targeting a fingerprint sensor. I've enabled TCP port forwarding on my router to the PI as suggested by the guide and tried to connect from my Mac to the PI. The PI is shown in my contacts list but when I click on it the operation times out. At the startup logs from the PI I can see following:
warn: rpc call 3364b2d6274f1269e51bbff6bbc3423d91412911 timed out
error: Failed to store value at one or more nodes, reason: RPC with ID `3364b2d6274f1269e51bbff6bbc3423d91412911` timed out
info: The device is connected to Streembit
warn: dropping received late response to 3364b2d6274f1269e51bbff6bbc3423d91412911

Did you also forward the port for your Streembit gui on the mac? What version of the pi do you have?

Thx a lot, that fixed the issue! Now I can connect from my Mac Streembit UI to the PI (V3). Since I have not configured anything inside the devices array of the config.json file, there's just a blank screen after successful connect from the UI. This leads me to my next question: I've got a fingerprint sensor including SDK with sources but I guess I need some sort of 'glue code' in order to make it working within the streembit ecosystem. Can anyone please forward me to the respective documentation since I did not find anything regarding IoT device development.

@MichaelF25 I am working on an IoT framework to enable devices integration into Streembit. I am to release the first version in a few weeks time with a basic documentation. In the meantime, we/you can put a file for the fingerprint device to this directory at https://github.com/streembit/streembit-pi/tree/master/device. There is the DS18B20 device handler. That file perhaps provides you with some ideas how a device can be wired up. We could have a similar approach for the fingerprint sensor. Please let me know what is the existing SDK source, then we can think about more how to handle the fingerprint reader device in Node.js. My email address is tzpardi@streembit.com if you want to discuss this there and email more details.
