@brianlheim , your PR is fantastic man! I will sure test this actively! Please allow me a week before I start. I am currently consolidating a newish build system for Windows for VS2017 that will likely make building on Windows as easy as on other platforms (using the new vcpkg, kind of a Windows homebrew that is emerging right now. It contains almost everything we need, and I am working on the last bit, webkit atm). Thank you so much!

Btw, remember that seemingly obscure "annulen" who seemed to be trying to reload single-handedly... Well, he is not just anybody, he has the ear of Qt lead developers, and Webkit "reloaded" will return to Qt in either Qt 5.9 or qt 5.10... Arch-linux (additional to msys2) is already using his "technology previews".

So the Webkit vs Webengine discussion will not have to be lead under the heading "replace defunct webkit", but "chose among two alternatives"

sure no problem, glad to help. i still have a lot of work to do but it is at a more stable point now than it was a few weeks ago
with my windows install it takes a few hours of use before things start to cache and run at a good speed, so it's been hard to set aside time to work on the windows side of it. hoping i can test on a windows "üsèr" later today.
good to know re qt
