Nathan Ho
@snappizz
there was already another slack that chris started up a while ago
Brian Heim
@brianlheim
is that supercollider-dev?
Nathan Ho
@snappizz
yeah
Brian Heim
@brianlheim
it looks like there isn't much of a history there though
and the -dev suffix makes it kinda hard to use it as both a users and dev chat
Joshua Parmenter
@joshpar
in the scsynth room, I made a dev channel
and 'general' has a heading that shows it is geared more towards general discussion
Kamil Kisiel
@kisielk
it's still saying I need an invitation to join?
which we can advertise generally
Nathan Ho
@snappizz
@joshpar this gitter room is public by the way
Patrick Dupuis
@patrickdupuis
@brianlheim I have no opinion really. We need a good place to chat. Gitter has been nice, Slack would probably be just as good. Let's pick the tool that will best help build the SC community.

hey guys what's up
?
what are the current priorities for bug fixing, and that kind of stuff?
when are you planning to release 3.9
?
Arseniy
@Arseniusz

Hi! I'm trying to send some data from SC to Arduino with SerialPort with SerialPort.put. Baudrates are same. When I sending a messages tx and rx leds on Arduino are blinking, but I can't get a data.

Code for arduino and sc are pretty simple (just for test)

arduino:

int incomingByte = 0; // for incoming serial data

void setup() {
        Serial.begin(9600); // opens serial port, sets data rate to 9600 bps
}

void loop() {

// send data only when you receive data:
        if (Serial.available() > 0) {
                // read the incoming byte:
                incomingByte = Serial.read();

                // say what you got:
                Serial.print("I received: ");
                Serial.println(incomingByte);
        }
}

SuperCollider:

(
~port = SerialPort(
    "/dev/ttyUSB0",
    baudrate: 9600,
    crtscts: true);
)

~port.put(2);
~port.putAll(Int8Array[13, 10]);

So what I'm doing wrong?

hello having some problems with getting started!
anyone know how to solve....
JACK compiled with System V SHM support.
loading driver ..
creating alsa driver ... hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit
could not initialize audio.
RESULT = 0
thanks :)

@patrickdupuis
Hello @ionakathryn!
This Gitter chat has gone a bit quiet since we created a Slack channel (scsynth.slack.com)
If you prefer to discuss your issue here, I'll keep my eye on this channel
(I also see your new issue on Github)
ionakathryn
@ionakathryn
OK thanks @patrickdupuis yes I've been busy with work and will work on that on the weekend :)
Georg Gogo. BERNHARD
@gogobd
I wonder how i could join this slack channel...
Also I have a question regarding scheduling and maybe clocks: how can i schedule an event at a certain time of day, like playing a different .wav file every (full) hour?
Georg Gogo. BERNHARD
@gogobd
@patrickdupuis THANKS!
onurio
@onurio
Hi, how do I get an invite to the slack channel?
Patrick Dupuis
@patrickdupuis
There's a link on the website's homepage supercollider.github.io (it's easy to miss).
Edward Loveall
@edwardloveall
this seems almost rude to ask in the gitter channel, but the slack invite seems dead
anyone know if the community is still active?

cougarten
@cougarten
Hi. how can I execute something after X milliseconds? (I want to build some debounce for hardware keys.)
cougarten
@cougarten
.sched might do the trick, but what is an "item" (its 2nd argument)?
cougarten
@cougarten
hm. item would be my function. but somehow it runs the function immediately... SystemClock.sched(2.0, rearm.value(num); nil);is my call (within another function)
Georg Gogo. BERNHARD
@gogobd
@cougarten check server latency, if it’s ~2s that would explain it
Also I used {} around my „item“, maybe it evaluates what’s there to use it...
cougarten
@cougarten
thanks @gogobd . The project is kinda gathering dust again, but if I'll make a note that this is how I could fix it :)
the last revival also happened because someone finally fixed midi on the windows build :)
Georg Gogo. BERNHARD
@gogobd
Oh! That’s good! I suppose MIDI is implemented quite differently on Win and Linux
cougarten
@cougarten
I think some part was plain commented out because it simply didn't work at all XD
Georg Gogo. BERNHARD
@gogobd
LoL
Dionysis Athinaios
@dathinaios
Hello all. Does anyone know if there has been any progress on getting the search for the mailing list archive into a decent state? This is driving me crazy!
Nathan Ho
@snappizz
hi @dathinaios. we don't use this chat anymore -- please join our slack: https://github.com/supercollider/supercollider/#discuss
