Boris Buliga
@d12frosted
@dougalcorn yeah, font settings are not updated by SPC f e R :(
@jballanc well, I wouldn’t say ‘nice’, because there is a problem, but you are always welcome :)
Doug Alcorn
@dougalcorn
can you gitter from within emacs?
Joshua Ballanco
@jballanc
@dougalcorn gitter has irc integration...so yes?
Boris Buliga
@d12frosted
@dougalcorn yeah, you can
http://irc.gitter.im
so basically, you would use irc client (be it rcirc or erc)
Johannes Bernhard Goslar
@ksjogo
What is the current way to save window configurations? I see desktop.el has commented-out code?
Boris Buliga
@d12frosted
@ksjogo syl20bnr/spacemacs#1585
desktop.el AFAIK, it’s not part of spacemacs
jtbm37
@jtbm37
how would you disable the highlighting of blank characters ?
(it is ON by default)
if I leave a blank character at the end of a line, emacs highlights it for instance
Doug Alcorn
@dougalcorn
is there an easy way to toggle between editing styles?
Sylvain Benner
@syl20bnr
@dougalcorn yes it is SPC P tab or M-m P tab, what's your default style ?
@dougalcorn depending on what you want to do and your default style there may be a better a way to switch
Doug Alcorn
@dougalcorn
is M-m the same as leader while in emacs style?
Zsolt Botykai
@zsoltika
Hi all, (and firstly thanks for your work, especially @syl20bnr )
I'd like to create a layer for yafolding, for which I had created the private/yafolding/packages.el with the following contents: https://gist.github.com/zsoltika/73cf26adc4a9a0fa409c
Doug Alcorn
@dougalcorn
I like all the work that's been done on spacemacs. I regularly pair with folks who use vim but am a long time emacs user. I thought I'd try spacemacs locally, but I'm having a really hard time seeing emacs and typing vim commands
Zsolt Botykai
@zsoltika
I had listed yafolding in .spacemacs/dotspacemacs-configuration-layers and it is listed as 'Loading... ' in Messages
But I can use it, and if I check the folders in the elpa dir (within my .emacs.d) there is no yafolding.* directory.
What did I do wrong?
Zsolt Botykai
@zsoltika
(And one more thing: I'm on windows using the GNU emacs windows binaries, and has cygwin installed, and was able to install everything I wanted (from the official layers).)
Johannes Bernhard Goslar
@ksjogo
Can company auto-insert parens when it is expanding a function?
Christoph Paulik
@cpaulik
@zsoltika Your function should be (defun yafolding/init-yafolding .... Only packages with a init function are loaded.
Zsolt Botykai
@zsoltika
@cpaulik Thanks you are right! Now it works (except the keybindings, but I'm going to figure that out).
Pratyush Mittal
@pratyushmittal
hi, I am a spacemacs newbie. Can someone please tell me what is HELM? Reading it everywhere.

@nwolfe
So are git hunks done for in develop?
Doesn't look like there are any magit hunk actions anymore
I know have to bring up magit-status and stage hunks from there
Sylvain Benner
@syl20bnr
@nwolfe I'm going to test git-gutter-plus, seems that it is less buggy. I'm not satisfied with diff-hl
@nwolfe to answer your question, staging hunk was provided by git-gutter and it has been replaced too quickly by diff-hl
next time we will try to provide a layer to test a package replacement
Nate Wolfe
@nwolfe
syl20bnr: Ahh, I see. :+1: for improving this gutter/hunk/diff support - I can feel something very useful is close :D
Dima Belitsky
@dab
today was a first time used magit, and it status buffer, when I press on Tab on staged file, i get unhighlighted diff, hard to read.
how I can improve it?
Ryan Phillips
@rphillips
@dab try pressing '4' in the status window
i tried magit's rebase support for the first time today, super nice. wow
Benno Fünfstück
@bennofs
In spacemacs, is there a way to override settings of a configuration layer? For example, the haskell layer sets "haskell-process-type" to 'auto, but I'd like to set it to 'ghci
Ryan Phillips
@rphillips
@bennofs you can override it usually in your spacemacs/config() function
Benno Fünfstück
@bennofs
@rphillips well, it uses a :config hook for use-package, so it's only set later
I'm not sure how to achieve the correct ordering there. If I use use-package twice, is it guarranted that the second :config hook is run after the one of the first use-package call?
Doug Alcorn
@dougalcorn
i'm pretty new to spacemacs. to install a package i need to create a private layer for it and then specify the layer needs that package?
Dima Belitsky
@dab
@rphillips: nothing good happening — Wrong type argument: number-of-marker-p, nil
Nate Wolfe
@nwolfe
dougalcorn: Check out the additional-packages variable in your .spacemacs. You can just add the package to that list instead of creating a whole layer for it
Dima Belitsky
@dab
@rphillips:
magit-wash-diff-section: Wrong type argument: char-or-string-p, nil
magit-section-show-level: Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, nil [6 times]
