Aron Gabor
@ashnur
i would change it too if I knew how :D
luxbock
@luxbock
SPC hk shows you a which-key view of all key-bindings

@ashnur
i feel that spacemacs is an aircraft carrier and i am playing table tennis on the deck as a freerider

Unfortunately we don't have any achievements for most colorful analogy.
But I like it. :-)

luxbock
@luxbock
is there a key to clear the input in Helm?
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
@luxbock, you say you're proficient on clojure, right?
luxbock
@luxbock
@AlejandroCatalina yeah for some definition of proficient :)
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
yeah right, you work with clojure or you became proficient on your own free time?
luxbock
@luxbock
@AlejandroCatalina I have never had a job programming (or doing anything really) but I've been working on a personal project for the past few years using Clojure
and then some random side projects as well
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
so your suggestion to master it would be just to use it, what seems natural xd
Alex Coventry
@coventry
Switching from holy emacs to spacemacs/evil... Just read about visual mode in the context of vim and vim registers. Having made a selection in spacemacs with visual mode, how do I go about putting that in the emacs kill ring or a register?
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
but i don't get to have so many ideas to let me use clojure
luxbock
@luxbock
yeah, and to find something you are passionate about
I used to play poker for a living, and still sort of make money from it, so I've been working on a Clojure program that lets me do some analysis I could not have done before
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
@coventry, using y you yank it, and using d you delete
oh that's nice
so i'll look for some projects to use clojure :P
luxbock
@luxbock
it was rather ambitious to start off, since I hadn't done any coding in so many years (learned Pythong when I was 12 but then just kind of gave up on it) but because it's something I find very interesting then that has kept the flame going
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
yeah
Alex Coventry
@coventry
Thanks.
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
i am studying in college, computer science, so programming is not an issue for me, the issue is to find something interesting to do
and have the time to do it
this year i'm beginning to have some free time
so i learned clojure
Alex Coventry
@coventry
There are so many interesting things to do if you're not worried about them also being useful. :)
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
i don't really care wether they are useful or not hahah
luxbock
@luxbock
definitely, my goal is to finish this project and maybe try to make some money from it, and then spend some time exploring things that I find interesting
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
yeah, i hope you can do it
i also have in my to-do list to seriously program elisp
luxbock
@luxbock
Elisp is the only other language I've written more than 1k lines of code in :P
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
i know lisp (some varieties of it) but, as with clojure, never finally wrote anything
i've written mostly C, Java, Python, Common Lisp
and haskell, but not so many
luxbock
@luxbock
it's pretty easy to pick-up compared to most other languages because the Emacs as an Elisp programming environment is pretty outstanding
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
yeah, just need to read the reference
which is pretty straightforward and easy to read, knowing already a lisp
and something i really find useful is to read code in a language you wanna learn
do you think contributing to a open source project is a good idea to practice clojure, given my current little proficiency?
what's the keybind to move through a info page?
in emacs style you navigate through sections and all with SPC
Eivind Fonn
@TheBB
Move through?
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
yeah going to next section, going down in a page...
Eivind Fonn
@TheBB
Not sure, I just use normal evil scrolling, and [, ]
Alejandro Catalina
@AlejandroCatalina
i'll try
thanks TheBB
