@matrixbot
heyarne Will do. Thx

@duianto
@adamgibbins The = signs should not be included in the command, they are probably just a typo when the html page was exported. They indicate that text inside the = signs should be shown verbatim (no org specific syntax) source: http://orgmode.org/manual/Emphasis-and-monospace.html
The github page doesn't show the = signs: https://github.com/syl20bnr/spacemacs/tree/master/layers/%2Bcheckers/spell-checking

evidlo what was wrong with spacevim
I've ben curious about it

@Andre0991
Hey. Is anyone using visual-fill-column? (https://github.com/joostkremers/visual-fill-column)
I'm trying to soft wrap lines at column 80 but it won't work
    (spacemacs/add-to-hooks 'visual-fill-column-mode '(visual-line-mode-hook))
    (spacemacs/add-to-hooks 'turn-on-visual-line-mode '(org-mode-hook))
    (setq fill-column 80)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Evidlo quicknir (Gitter): you should try it first
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
Evidlo tbh spacemacs is workign well for me and because of certain language specific things it's unlikely I would bother
rtags for example
Also I believe that vim still lacks an equivalent to helm-ag
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Evidlo I still have trouble with spacemacs syntax highlighting randomly breaking overnight and freezes in tramp
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
syntax highlighting in which language
dagnachewa
@dagnachewa
hi all
is there a plac where we can see other people's .spacemacs config ?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Evidlo quicknir: automatic hilighting seems to break for all languages simultaneously
Evidlo I have to manually invoke xxx-mode to get new code highlighted
Evidlo doesn't seem broken right now
Evidlo I can never reproduce it. It just happens over the course of several days
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
seems annoying
master or develop?
Patrick
@weaksauce
@quicknir nice patch. looks pretty useful
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
@weaksauce Thanks :-). If you can give it a go, there's lots of permutations and it's the sort of thing that if there's a bug it will be very annoying
Come across lots of nice improvements lately
evil in the minibuffer, treemacs is looking great
a small patch of mine to ycmd got merged, so hopefully cpp2 layer will follow
Patrick
@weaksauce
treemacs is great
much better than neotree imo
i'll have to update it to see what's new
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
the tag follow mode is brilliant
the only catch is the fact that AFAIK in the latest it gets a number
so turning it on and off shifts the numbering of your other windows
th snippet I pasted above will fix that though
(at least, if you only use one frame)
Patrick
@weaksauce
what is tag following mode?
like go to definition?
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
well, follow mode means that treemacs readjusts focus to whatever file you're in
and, treemacs can also show tags
it's like a level of nesting below the file
Patrick
@weaksauce
ah. didn't know about the tags part
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
the same headers that show up in SPC i j
Patrick
@weaksauce
of treemacs
Nir Friedman
@quicknir
and the following works with tags too
so treemacs will show you where you are in the file as well
like which file you are in
sorry which function I mean
it's pretty fantastic
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Evidlo quicknir (Gitter): master
Herman
@longtomjr
Hey! I am writing some basic functionality for spacemacs that allows the generation of docstrings in python using the sphinx-doc and python-docstring packages. Should I put it in the sphinx layer with the idea that it could be merged to dev, or should I add a new layer completely, or add it to another layer?
Herman
@longtomjr
while I am here, should I declare the packages in my layer with setq or with defconst?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
LdBeth Herman (Gitter): Always use setq to have some flexibility
Herman
@longtomjr
Ok thanks LdBeth!
