OK I've established that sometimes when input stops working, it's because continuous mode has somehow broken. Typically when I j/k to a full page change. Then I have to hit 'c c' to restart continuous mode, and so at least that works. But it might be a bug worth looking into.

More specifically: If you have a |- layout, where the lhs is your text, and your rhs is the pdf viewer split into two frames by continuous mode, and you're browsing your pdf, and then change to your text and make some changes, hit ^w^w to get to frame 2, i.e. the upper PDF frame, then scroll down to the end of it, what will happen is the text frame (1) will be selected, and you will suddenly find yourself scrolling in the text. When you then ^w^w back to what used to be frame 3, now frame 2, it does not accept input properly. Restarting continuous scrolling ('c c') will fix it.

Is there a way to expand the minibuffer? I do a lot of programming in TS and sometimes the types are too big for the minibuffer so it hides stuff. :confused: or some other way of showing the full types?

I'm having a problem where the modeline is blank. The Messages buffer says Error during redisplay: (eval (spaceline-ml-main)) signaled (wrong-type-argument symbolp (fci-mode " ⓕ" " f")) [10 times]. Any idea what could be happening?

figured it out, thta truncation is tsserver itself. By editing the source I was able to increase the default. https://github.com/microsoft/TypeScript/issues/26238#issuecomment-672086446

About the "broken" pdf-continuous-scroll-mode, it is hard to make it work right. The mode is just a hack and I know it is far from ideal. But to repair these 'bugs' would take a lot of work, for little gain. Generally, I got used to sometimes 're-activate' it with c c. It is annoying but not so easy to fix (if you study the code you will find it is a quite delicate hack). Anyway, this is also the reason why I did not publish it on Melpa... it is too hacky, far from an ideal solution. There is better continuous scroll in the EAF layer its pdf viewer. But unfortunately that reader is buggy, while pdf-tools is very stable (without pdf-continuous-scroll-mode) and awesome

Also often when Spacemacs 'freezes' it can be 'melted' with C-g.

How do I use C-a as the tmux prefix when running it inside an ansi-term buffer? I'm getting back to emacs and spacemacs after a while and I forgot how to (or not sure if I used to) do this. When I try it I get a message in the minibuffer saying "Buffer is read-only"

I realized that I had actually never looked into this bug (and that I was just assuming it was hard to fix), so I had a look at it and luckily it turned out not to be that hard to fix

ok. The problem is that emacs doesn't start because i was just installing a new layer, so every time i launch it tries to download new packages but fail...
guess I'll have to use vim to modify my .spacemacs 🤮

e.g. in help buffers
