Yeah, I think it's down. I configured Spacemacs temporarily to use mirrors and it got through. https://github.com/d12frosted/elpa-mirror

@TheyareLying2Us
ok. The problem is that emacs doesn't start because i was just installing a new layer, so every time i launch it tries to download new packages but fail...
guess I'll have to use vim to modify my .spacemacs 🤮
August Feng
@aug0stus
I've been doing emacs -nw -q .... I'm experiencing some trouble with my vim setup, coincidentally at the same time lol.

There. Now I probably have that fix. :)

Oh that's a button, and is meant to actualy do something?
The only thing that ever happens if I click it is that the bar glitches a bit
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
I think they are called buttons yes
You pressed o
?
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
On the bar? Yes
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
And subsequently the right label
Which bar?
You can also place the cursor on it and press RET
Then you have to restart Spacemacs to actually perform the update
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
Oh. What do you mean by 'o'? I thought you were talking about that circle between "Spacemacs buffer" and "general".
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Ah no... the key o
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
Yeah I already did the update by 'SPC f e U'.
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Bound to ace-buffer-link
Ah okay
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
Oh I see what you mean by 'o' yes
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Never used SPC f e U before... but that is another way then
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
That's handy to know, thanks.
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
You can use o almost in any buffer to follow links
e.g. in help buffers
Or in pdf-view
etc
bernalex
@bernalex:matrix.org
[m]
Yeah I was not on my homescreen, which is why I used the SPC chain. But very useful with 'o'. I had similar behaviour mapped to 'f' back in my old emacs config.
f for follow-links. I used to use vimperator/pentadactyl/similar stuff, and those used f(ollow-links), so I thought I'd have the same thing in my emacs.
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Yeah got it... so you already know it is handy indeed...
Yes I use vimium too

I found that at some point, those addons started having more disadvantages than advantages for me, using Firefox. they became increasingly cumbersome, and decreasingly customisable. The one for Thunderbird got completely nuked very early on, around Thunderbird 3 or some such.
I've heard vimium is good though, but I don't use chromium myself.
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
@bernalex:matrix.org I use vimium in Firefox too

sort order of helm-ag using ripgrep appears to be in reverse order of filename, e.g. spec/x: my search text above app/x: my search text. Anyone got clues for me on where to specify sort order?

Hi All, does spacemacs support org-babel src to lsp mode ?
lunarfyre7
@lunarfyre7
I'm trying to use the common-lisp layer, but for some reason non of the keybindings actually work at all, I'm having to access everything through spc spc
all of the cl bindings are prefixed with spc m, and spc m is still undefined on my emacs

Isn't SPC m the prefix for commands related to the current major mode? Are you in Lisp mode?

Oh wow that works! (I am obviously new to emacs :p)

does anyone here find melpa.org very slow and unresponsive
like literally it took me 12 minutes to install one package

Hi, when calling evil-org-open-below or evil-org-open-above in a org-mode source block, the whole block gets highlighted and it gets an extra keystroke (ESC) to be able to type in insert mode as I would expect. Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks!

Also , works for accessing the major mode's commands.

I'm a bit confused about avy, easymotion and spacemacs. I get that SPC j gives access to some avy commands (notably avy-timer on SPC j j), which is fine. On the other hand, g s opens a evil-easymotion drawer, where evil-avy commands can be found (g s SPC is buffer-evil-avy-goto-char-timer, for example). What's the point of having these commands under so different drawers? There surely must be a justification...

Hiya folks! I'm guessing this is a known issue of some kind, but I'm trying to do a fresh install on Windows and getting a "too many open files" message. Seen rumblings of this with specific packages while searching, just wonder if there's a known general solution

<cs_0x6373> Hi, i just upgraded spacemacs via "git pull --rebase" and updated the packages, but i don't have the option to export an org document as markdown (via C-c C-e ) but can manually export via org-md-export-to-markdown. Any ideas how i can get this in the export menu?

Hello everyone, how can I override the version of a package (which is included in a layer)? In my particular case, I want to use the org-roam 2 alpha instead of the 1.2 release in the org layer

I believe you can specify a local installation of a package and clone the specific repo.
