Hiya folks! I'm guessing this is a known issue of some kind, but I'm trying to do a fresh install on Windows and getting a "too many open files" message. Seen rumblings of this with specific packages while searching, just wonder if there's a known general solution

<cs_0x6373> Hi, i just upgraded spacemacs via "git pull --rebase" and updated the packages, but i don't have the option to export an org document as markdown (via C-c C-e ) but can manually export via org-md-export-to-markdown. Any ideas how i can get this in the export menu?

Hello everyone, how can I override the version of a package (which is included in a layer)? In my particular case, I want to use the org-roam 2 alpha instead of the 1.2 release in the org layer

I believe you can specify a local installation of a package and clone the specific repo.
Not sure how that interacts with the "layer" though.

Hi all! Just started using Spacemacs and I love it so far. So freaking intuitive it scares me sometimes :) However, the constant resizing of the right hand imenu-list is very annoying. how can I set fixed width?
Johannes Lundberg
@johalun
Found it! imenu-list-auto-resize nil

I don't use imenu (will have to check it out), but I use golden-ratio-mode all the time. That will keep your focused window at a good size relative to the other windows open.

so I can see that I can set a specific non-default syntax checker using SPC e s but it seems like when that buffer goes away the syntax checking goes back to the default. Is there a variable I can use in my .spacemacs to permanently set the checker of my choice?

Hello people, tbh I find the installation process already pretty confusing, should I just push through or maybe decide it's not for me?
Fritz Meissner
@iftheshoefritz
push through, IMO
but you can always ask here

I have to check that mode out, sounds great!

You can try it by calling M-x golden-ratio-mode. It will resize the active window to occupy approx 2/3 of the screen.
I'd like to see visual-line-mode work more smoothly with it. Currently mine doesn't re-wrap visual line mode.

Very nice when switching between source code and terminal (ansi-shell) :thumbsup:
Although I'd like terminal window to be a bit smaller vertically when focusing on source code (the "main" window). Maybe there's a config option for ratio..

is there a good setup for tdd (test driven development) in spacemacs? hopefully using java or lsp.
Ivan Yonchovski
@yyoncho
@abhijeetsrivastava I use SPC d t t and SPC d d l
Johannes Lundberg
@johalun
Horizontally golden-ratio it works great, I can adjust to make the focused window larger or smaller, however it doesn't change vertically :(
Abhijeet
@abhijeetsrivastava
@yyoncho i dont have SPC d t t binding for a java project. Can you share more about your workflow?
Ivan Yonchovski
@yyoncho
do you have the dap layer?
sorry, it is , d t t
Abhijeet
@abhijeetsrivastava
ok, you use dap java debug test method and dap-debug-last (SPC d d l) . Thanks I will explore these a bit more

@dalanicolai

@dalanicolai Thank you! It did not actually solve it, since using `:local' in that situation requires the package to have been part of a layer which was not the case for me. I resorted to just explicitly listing the path as: (PKG_NAME :location "~/.spacemacs.d/local/PKG_NAME/") just so I could keep everything localised in my .spacemacs.d directory.

Hey all, I need some help figuring out how to configure the tabs layer. Specifically, I'm trying to use both the agda layer and the tabs layer. But tabs appear in the Agda Information buffer, which is ugly and I would like to prevent.
According to tabs documentation I should be able to do something with centaur-tabs-hide-tabs-hooks, but I couldn't figure that out.
I did figure out that I can put (add-hook 'agda2-mode-hook 'centaur-tabs-local-mode)) in my dotspacemacs/user-config, but that disables tabs in files in the agda mode, rather than disabling tabs in the Agda Information buffer
which is rather the opposite effect I want. So some help here would be appreciated. Sorry I'm new to emacs and spacemacs ;)

Hi, when I run lsp-ui-flycheck-list, the error list window is covering almost the whole emacs frame leaving around 3 lines of text of the window where the source code is. Is there a way to limit its height?
This is the code that actually opens the window
    (let ((win (display-buffer-in-side-window
                buffer `((side . ,lsp-ui-flycheck-list-position) (slot . 5) (window-width . 0.20)))))
      (set-window-dedicated-p win t)
      (select-window win)
      (fit-window-to-buffer nil nil 10))))

Hi there. Can you please help me about flycheck error saying qwidget file not found
and actually any qt header gets the error
Unknown type name 'QWidget' (lsp)
Ivan Yonchovski
@yyoncho
@osfe most likely you haven't configured compile_commands.json
Olivier LEMAIRE
@osfe
@yyoncho ok... what's that ?
@yyoncho not very familiar with all this :)
there is a section about compile command linking to clangd section
Olivier LEMAIRE
@osfe
@yyoncho thank you very much
Olivier LEMAIRE
@osfe
@yyoncho added the layer to my spacemac config, the error is still here...
I get qwidget file not found
Olivier LEMAIRE
@osfe
still not working...
the file has been generated with cmake
but the error remains...

I'm trying to remap tab from org-cycle to org-toggle-fold but it won't seem to stick. Does anyone happen to know what's overriding the tab remap?

(evil-define-key 'normal org-mode-map (kbd "TAB") 'org-toggle-fold)
(evil-define-key 'normal org-mode-map (kbd "<tab>") 'org-toggle-fold)
(evil-define-key 'normal org-mode-map (kbd "C-i") 'org-toggle-fold)

Does anyone know of a maxima layer? I've tried to write my own but haven't had much luck.
Or is there a "how to write a layer for dummies" floating around?
