Hi everyone. Question about Spacemacs package upgrades (develop branch): I run "Update packages" from home buffer and it shows 50+ packages needing update. I would like to upgrade them in batches, but I'm only offered to upgrade them all y/n. Any way of choosing which ones? I'd like to not do them all at the same time.

@pataquets I think this option is not yet available. I've created a PR (syl20bnr/spacemacs#15077) to implement it. If you would like to use it already then you could copy the 'updated configuration-layer/update-packages function' from the PR (by selecting view file under the triple dots in the upper right of the diff)
I have implemented it in the most straightforward way, so you do have to select by pressing y or n for each package

Hey all! I am somewhat of a newbie, to linux and emacs both. I want to install spacemacs because it looks gorgeus. However, the spacemacs site points to some fonts it recommends i install. However, the github site for that font doesnt really say how to install

@dalanicolai
@Rafgass Which GNU/linux distribution are you using?
Because for Ubuntu I guess you can just run this script (I did not test it, as I am on Fedora).
For which such a script would probably look very similar...

I'm seeing changed behaviour in magit since a few days. Buffers that used to accept , c and , k no longer do (e.g. commit and interactive rebase). Also, quitting with C-c C-k doesn't close the window, it only changes the buffer, which is rather irritating I find.
Anyone else seeing this as well?

Hmm, there seems to be an ordering issue between modes, as the normal d action (helm-ls-git-rebase-drop) is shadowed by the standard evil action (evil-delete). How can I resolve that kind of issue?

Hi. use the spacemacs on mac os, during debug python code I haven't user input. I google this problem but can't apply the method people describe -> open dap process in iterm. Could somebody help with the problem using user input during debug python app?

hello guys. i often develop in typescript with some query languages in multiline strings. for example cypher (https://neo4j.com/docs/cypher-refcard/current/). my problem is that every effort of indentation inside the strings is often ruined by a simple copy paste or just by pressing 'enter'. emacs move everything at the start of line
is there any way to force emacs to keep my indentation inside the multiline strings?
i'm using the typescript layer

Hello. I'd like to remap M-backspace by default will only kill subwords, ex: part in multi-part when run at the end of the word. I would like it to work for the whole word. I have been using (global-set-key (kbd "C-M-<backspace>") 'backward-kill-sexp). I considered just swapping the two keybindings, but I'd like to make sure that the new keybinding will do all of the whitespace cleanup as well. How can I ensure that backward-kill-sexp does the other tasks that clean-aindent-mode does?

@iftheshoefritz asked this question a long time ago:

I added a point to an existing document using an org capture template. Everything works as I expect, except the point added is highlighted in orange and I don't know what that means:

I'm wondering if @iftheshoefritz figured it out, or if anybody else knows the answer. I couldn't find any variables that seemed to control this.

Hi all, does anyone know how to have the cursor be on the current open file when doing C-x-f in spacemacs ?
I would prefer that than having the file cursor be at the top of the folder
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
@Momo10101 But you do not use SPC f f? This is Spacemacs after all
To get what you prefer you can easily rebind C-x C-f to your custom function
Momo10101
@Momo10101
sorry, i am a spacemacs noob : )
How do i do SPC f f ?
if i do that, i literally get a space and two f's : )
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Ah probably your Spacemacs does not load correctly then
Momo10101
@Momo10101
ok strange, its a clean install of spacemacs on Ubuntu
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
You did not change the .spacemacs file?
Momo10101
@Momo10101
no, but let me try to do it from scratch again
in any case, do you know what i would have to rebind C-x-f to get the behavior i want? I want it to be 'helm find files', but i just want the cursor to point at the current open file
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Well, it is not as straightforward as I thought.
I thought let's make the filename the initial input, but then the other files and dirs are not listed
Luckily it should be easily possible in helm emacs-helm/helm#1014
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Ah that does something different
oops
Momo10101
@Momo10101
ok
its strange because the default behavior for 'helm find files' is for the cursor to point at the current open file
a least when i use it in vanilla emacs
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai

its strange because the default behavior for 'helm find files' is for the cursor to point at the current open file

Yes I just dicovered that now

So then just rebind SPC f f or C-x C-f to that
Is SPC f f working now?
Momo10101
@Momo10101
'C-x C-f' is already bound to 'helm find file' as default in spacemacs
Daniel Nicolai
@dalanicolai
Okay, maybe then you are not in a file-buffer
Momo10101
@Momo10101
No, i havent tried yet, but 'SPC f f' is vim mode?
