Anyone use JIT and PHP8? Really struggling to get it going...

ugh got it finally! Man that did my head in...

Guys, do you somehow secure file uploads if they are part of a frontend form?
Juraj Kapsz
@jurajkapsz
I believe it is needed. I am about to create an event filter that should take care of some malicious cases. A maybe nicer way for this would be to have some event settings available, similar to the Default Event Values extension. Or even Symphony itself could have some build-in file checks, I think as of now there are only some regex filters available but I might be mistaken, will have a look.
Juraj Kapsz
@jurajkapsz
Speaking of file uploads validation, ok, there is just a regex validation for file extension going on. Without building on too much, do you guys think it could be sensible to:
  1. add e.g. htaccess to the config.php's upload_blacklist param e.g. '/\\.(?:php[34567s]?|phtml|htaccess)$/i' and
  2. change https://github.com/symphonycms/symphonycms/blob/ea690f74cbc5b325014e45fb44b7ad5501b7da5e/symphony/lib/toolkit/fields/field.upload.php#L319 method so the upload files would be always validated against the config blacklist, not only when there is no user own validation set for given upload field. So if the backend user would set his/her own validation rule for the upload field, it would run both.

throttle-time only exists in ENM (not ETM), and besides that yes , it would mean seconds.

Thanks! (of course)

Hmm, I wish @pointybeard could chime in, but she is not on gitter?
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@pixelninja it would still be nice to have your PHP8 version as a github repo. Have you checked against @petertron efforts?
Alexander Rutz

Especially with the extensions included

Hi all. I have been using the recaptcha extension and its letting spam through. Aaaaaah.

Are any of you using other anti-spam solutions/extensions with Symphony events that you could recommend please?

Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
Im also using recaptcha 2 no problem
I also log the spam and success in the event to logfiles to check
Stuart Palmer
@stuartgpalmer
Hmmm. It's letting spam through on one site after years of working perfectly.
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
How much spam? 1 per day or ?
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@stuartgpalmer Normally I use a combination of canofspam and a handmade honeypot, which works pretty effective together.

Hello all. Please help me

@bogdanus91_gitlab HI

I want to dynamicly add input fileds to a record form. Somethin like <input type="text[]" name="somename"> and some button to add a field with same name and an other to remove it. I do know how to do it using html and some JS. But the main problem for me is how to add those fields to a section in a backend side. Are there any related extensions or some tutorials on that. Symphony version is 2.7.7
Bogdan Onyshenko
@bogdanus91_gitlab
To clarify it a bit more, here is some link with example.
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
I think you will need 2 sections
and 1 section is the parent
Probably you will need to customize a bit your event
could you give more info about the data ?
Bogdan Onyshenko
@bogdanus91_gitlab
@wdebusschere Basicly it is a webstore. And I have a product in it with some sku,name,price,sku, description etc. I want to modify it's price if user on a front end of a website select an option. Only problem is how to give an ability for admin to modify and create those options. Section itself has a multitab form from an admin perspective
So I am trying to modify a backend wich is available at mysite/symphony
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
chec kthe association field
but to customize: there is no doc.. so this will be though
i would not create a shop in 2021 with symphonycms
Bogdan Onyshenko
@bogdanus91_gitlab
@wdebusschere Me either. But my client thinks that he has not a Symphony cms, but symfony framework. Only my research on this question helped to figure out what it is.
And an other I think quick question. Do I understand correctly that asociation field is about relationsheeps in a db. And do I have to create enteties beforehand?
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
both is possible, depends of what you need
Bogdan Onyshenko
@bogdanus91_gitlab
@wdebusschere Basicly I have one product with seviral waight and client can choose between the waights. For example 1 kg will cost $20 1.5 kg $25 etc...
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
Maybe you can integrate snipcart
For these variants
Juraj Kapsz
@jurajkapsz

@bogdanus91_gitlab don't know how big of an eshop it is, but maybe you could add Meta Keys field into your product's section.

Also, if I have to get some value settings from the backend to the frontend, I tend to use in certain cases the build-in Static XML Datasource to create a custom XML. Or you can use XML field. These aren't necessary backend user friendly options but they give you lot of freedom and with little implementation overhead. Anyways, for sure, having an eshop with scms as of now requires lots of love.

I encourage everyone who wants to continue using symphony in the future to have a look at Alannahs Symphony CMS Fork: https://github.com/pointybeard/symphonycms it is basically the only version that is still actively developed. Have a look at the only issue, where I queried her a bit ;).

We have unfortunately made the decision to drop Symphony and move to Craft CMS.
I will create a repo of my php8 updates soon, I’ve finished rolling it out to my customers and I’m not getting errors now.
I won’t be maintaining it though
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@petertron independently or as a joint effort?
Peter Skirenko
@petertron
@animaux Independently. I might draw from Ms. Kearney's work though.

Does Symphony CMS support ajax at all? Here is the deal I want to make a selectbox with some options and send the selected option to an other template by appling this with selected option as a parameter. How can I do it?

To not repeat my mistake that I did last time here is a link to StackOverflow with what I have done this far. I don't know is that correct at all, but still
