Phill
@pixelninja
Can you roll down to php5? There will be compatibility issues with Symphony 2.3 and PHP 7
Godown
@Godown
alright working on it

If you work off a Mac, this is a good tutorial on setting up a switch script between different PHP versions. https://getgrav.org/blog/macos-mojave-apache-multiple-php-versions

For those that use it, I updated my Media Library extension today to include tagging for better filtering, https://github.com/pixelninja/media_library

If you are on Mac, MAMP might be an easier alternative.

I would like to download Symphony, site does not let me registrate, who can help?
Never mind, now it lets me download..
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@Aldert Registering to the site is only manual because of spam issues. If you want an account drop me a PM.

Anyone get The entry could not be saved due to conflicting changes errors when saving content under an Author using an Author Roles extension custom role?

Same here actually ;)

To be honest we’ve moved away on new projects; as we are focused more on Applications these days. Still got a few projects we support on Symphony

We are busy working on Symphony projects. Ecommerce, CRM, bespoke productivity web apps. I am looking at Laravel as a successor but prefer Symphony as we can offer great value to clients due to the speed of builds. I would be interested to know if @nitriques and the other core developers have a roadmap for developing Symphony over the coming years?
Nicolas Brassard
@nitriques
Hey guys. We had a lot to deal with here in Montréal, had to put a stop to my daily involvement. But 3.0.0 is almost ready and we will continue to work on polishing the projet for years to come!
Nicolas Brassard
@nitriques
Also, I've tackle with the idea that we may want to use some framework to make the CMS more flexible
Wannes Debusschere
@wdebusschere
We have been exploring Laravel and its great for programmers. But for normal websites nothing beats Symphony
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@nitriques good to hear!
I remember the old framework-discussion … this will be a lot easier to decide with a lot fewer opinions ;)
Nicolas Brassard
@nitriques
Indeed ! And the goal is always to keep things minimal: I do not want to bloat anything
But things like sending emails, storing files, logging, could be better with open source components

@nitriques Music to my ears :)

@nitriques
In 3.0.0, there is a single dependancy: composer's semver package
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
A library for the UI side could also help. Kirby has a beatuful backend powered by vue.js. But I wouldn’t want to argue for or against it. It’s just that the result looks and works good ;)
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
Funnily enough currently the bigges »datahogs« in the very clean and lean symphony-2.7.10-folder (4.8MB) are html-purifier (1.1MB), followed by a margin by jquery.js, selectize.js and moment.js ;)

@nitriques Automatic updates? :D
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
N’ahhhh
cylkee
@cylkee
Oh. I was kinda hoping that meant an update button in the backend UI for the core and extensions ;)
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
Might be possible, but I’d figure it would take quite a bit of already sparse development resources to implement this and keep it running.

Hi guys, it is ok to use STRICT_TRANS_TABLES sql mode with Symphony 2.7.10 (which is the default setup for e.g. MariaDB 10.3)? A while ago - well, feb this year - @michael-e mentioned this mode can cause some issues. I have 10.3 now as default DB option at my hosting provider, but no admin option to change this mode. I still can use 10.1 , but I am thinking I should be switching to a newer version by now.

Right now at symphonyextensions.com
Alexander Rutz
@animaux
@jurajkapsz I think @nitriques has some cronjobs to fix things like this automatically ;) could be magic though!
I had some problems with strict_mode to, fortunately only on a local dev-server. So I could handle it via mySQL settings.

@jurajkapsz
Thanks @animaux for feedback!

actually it was indeed, thank you :)

@animaux
Well great then!
Juraj Kapsz
@jurajkapsz
Guys, @animaux , I figured out that my provider actually runs the 10.3 without the STRICT_TRANS_TABLES option, so I am all good. Totally did not expected that. Probably for backward compatibility... Anyways, I guess nice.

@animaux

@michael-e a customer has found that e-mail notification has stopped working. I checked the logs and found Fatal Error: E-Mail-Gateway-Fehler (extension_email_template_manager): 5.3.3 Unrecognized command. Is there any way to get a more verbose error description?
