A week later and not a peep. I think my biggest problem is that I’m trying to learn SystemJS, but since I came into this right after 2.0 was released, there are absolutely zero tutorials on how to use it. I’m still so new to modules and TypeScript.
Adobe CEP doesn’t support CommonJS nor any other “built-in” module loading, so I think I am forced to use SystemJS. But the only help available is for the old SystemJS, so I’m completely stuck here. Either I downgrade SystemJS (if I can even figure out how to do that) or use the deprecated stuff. And I’d have to stick with one of those until some proper tutorials are available somewhere.

@SturmB I guess the problem is, that no one has experience with Adobe CEP. Most of us are using SystemJS with webapps and probably are still used to 0.2x versions...

Well, Adobe CEP runs in Chrome browser (of sorts). I don’t know all the details, but just about anything you can do in Chrome, you can do in an Adobe CEP extension.
Also, thank you for replying, @mpfau. I went ahead and downgraded to v0.21 and now I have SystemJS working with my project, thankfully.
Now my biggest stumbling block is trying to get a list of files in a directory on the computer. I cannot use Node.js’ “fs”, because SystemJS won’t let me.
It doesn’t like core Node.js modules, for whatever reason. And I cannot find any way to do the same thing without fs.

using fs makes probably only sense on node due to native bindings...

It also makes sense in CEP, since the web “server” is only ever being run on the computer running the Adobe application. It kinda needs access to the local filesystem.

ah, ok. Yeah, sorry but can't help you with CEP as I have zero experience with it. Would be wise to ask these questions to the CEP community...

Okay. I’ll go see if I can find one. If not, I may have a backup plan. Thank you again, @mpfau.
