@wkerzendorf
okay - try to use the old python2 codebase for now
and see if you can make a plot
and run the code
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Python2 codebase actually gives error during installation , because of some ambiguity for super() (I sent it in the channel a few days back ) . Travis log too shows up this error .
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
try running it - maybe try conda uninstall sphinx as we don’t need that currently.
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Alright , I'll try and report
NILESH
@nileshpatra
after a few tweaks , I'm now getting the same error with super()
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Installing sphinx 1.5.6 actually resolved the issue , Thanks :)
NILESH
@nileshpatra
@wkerzendorf , could you please confirm if this is the spectrum you talked about ?

Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
@nilesh - sounds great - try to add a bit more silicon and see how it changes.
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
let’s do this here
sorry for the confusion
normally don’t do it interactively - so git rebase upstream/master
was already right
did you do git fetch upstream beforehand?
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Yes , I did it before reading
Rebasing
So will deleting my fork , reforming it , cloning my repo again, making the changes , force pushing if and then rebasing it , do the trick?
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
yes - well maybe - but that’s not what I want you to do.
there are easier ways - and it will teach you some more git - which is a win win ;-)
so make a new branch from git upstream/master
then cherry-pick the commits you made from your old branch
then force push your new branch to your GitHub branch
and I see you are working on master - never do that.
always call your branches something. In fact - delete your local master branch
whenever you need master do git checkout upstream/master
makes life easier
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Alright, I don't know cherry-picking yet , il learn it and push the changes in some more time . Will that be fine?

GSoC organization results are out . Did TARDIS apply as a sub-organization ?
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
TARDIS is a sub-org of the Python Software foundation - please continue any discussion in the gsoc2019 tardis channel
NILESH
@nileshpatra
I didn't get any link for that . I would be obliged if you could share the link .
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
look on the psf gsoc website - there is definitely a link
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Thanks :) . But in the orgs written under PSF on the page itself , I didn't find the name of TARDIS . TARDIS is definitely there in the organization list on ideas page . So wanted to know if TARDIS is participating under PSF?
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
yes
some organizational thing - but TARDIS is part of the PSF umbrella org for 2019.
you can apply as you would with any org or suborg
NILESH
@nileshpatra
@wkerzendorf , thanks :)
NILESH
@nileshpatra
@wkerzendorf , added the new branch , cherry picked and made changes . It taught me a lot of git 😀😀 . I have made this new PR from it #888 . Please review .
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
wrong channel ;-)
NILESH
@nileshpatra
But this is the channel for TARDIS , right? 😅
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
but you are applying for gsoc2019 right?
so please post in gsoc2019
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Sure :)
Wolfgang Kerzendorf
@wkerzendorf
just repost this there - thanks
NILESH
@nileshpatra
Done :)

@elUser81
Hi everyone! I just learned about tardis and have been setting up the environments to get familiar with the project. I keep running into the following error: "cl : Command line error D8004 : '/W' requires an argument" this occurs after the script cythons montecarlo.pyx to montecarlo.c. the problem starts when when the script builds the tardis.montecarlo.montecarlo extension. Has anyone run into something similar? I built my anaconda environment based on the definition in the docs and am using python 3.6.8. I cloned the tardis git repository manually, then ran setup.py inside the anaconda environment.

Are you a gsoc applicant @elUser81
If so please join the gsoc2019 channel
