A bee generator?
Christian Muehlhaeuser
@muesli
yeah, a little helper that generates a bee's skeleton based on golang's reflection
e.g. you can pass it a json / struct of some api response and it generates the bee's structure for you
Starbeamrainbowlabs
@sbrl
Ah, nice!
Oh yeah, and what's the status on the saving issue?
Christian Muehlhaeuser
@muesli
the PR I mentioned has been merged, but wasn't part of a release just yet
Starbeamrainbowlabs
@sbrl
Ah, I see. I'll wait 'till the next release then

Does beehive support scraping complex webpages like Huginn?
Christian Muehlhaeuser
@muesli
@xnaas Hey there!
Not sure what huginn does there, or what you specifically need. But generally speaking: yes

I am having issues in running beehive on my machine. I am running it via docker image but chain is not being fired. Is there any public demo version available to try out?
jaekim0908
@jaekim0908
Also, how active is this beehive being developed?
xnaas
@xnaas
muesli I appreciate the reply. I tinkered around with beehive a bit but ultimately decided it wasn't for me.

Hey there!

I see the only bee exposing an HTTP endpoint is the Web Bee. Is there a reason most of the Bees is using polling instead of incoming webhooks? Should we prefer polling?
Christian Muehlhaeuser
@muesli
I guess that's mostly because supporting webhooks with official endpoints isn't always a possibility
not for all users anyway
Anthony Corrado
@corrantho
Hi here, how are you?
Just to inform you about two pending PRs waiting for your feedback/review/merge. One fixing an issue in the MastodonBee and one introducing a new bee for JIRA.
If something is missing, just let me know :)

@johnnybigoode
so, hello, im trying to contribute with a imap bee and i have questions about the whole Bee's event loop. I was using the telegram bee as a guide since I worked with telegram bots and everything was going fine and dandy. problem is the actual loop
on a telegram bot there's this whole abstraction to get the events from the bot
on imap i need to constantly check for new emails
i dont think its a good idea to just leave the same imap code to check the server constantly on a bee's event loop, so i went on to take a look at the emailserverbee
i got a little scared with that particular code
is there any other way you guys would recommend to check for email over an imap conn?
João A. Marson
@johnnybigoode

why yes there is, i should've checked other bees eh?

facebook, github and nagios bee all use the case time after:
case <-time.After(time.Duration(10 * time.Second)):

the rssbee uses sleep
time.Sleep(10 * time.Second)

how dead is beehive?
RYeah Sh
@pantchox
is it dead or this chat is dead?
Anthony Corrado
@corrantho
Hi, although it’s not very active, it’s not dead.

@pantchox
@corrantho I am working on a web app that one of its features are real time push notifications for desktop and mobile. do you think there is enough demend for beehive users for that feature?
Starbeamrainbowlabs
@sbrl
@pantchox depends on what your web app does
RYeah Sh
@pantchox
I've build a real time messaging platform, with a modern chat UI where you login from different devices to share media, text and links. when creating a channel you can from the device of your choice to subscribe to that channel. each channel can have API webhook to send new messages which will trigger push notification on the devices that are subscribed to this channel.
All this without installing any native app, its web based and runs on the browser.
its like a light version of slack meets pushbullet but far more easy to use.
Starbeamrainbowlabs
@sbrl
I see
In that case, I'd say a cautious yes - but it needs to be very controllable
the problem with push notifications is that you can very easily end up interrupting someone too much
So controls for muting notifications for X hours or forever on a per-chat basis would be a good investment there
RYeah Sh
@pantchox
thats a very good suggestion
i will add it to mile stones
currently you can sub/unsub in the channel itself there is a button for that, that is why it is also individual for each device and not for ALL devices you are logged in from.
Christian Muehlhaeuser
@muesli
@johnnybigoode a little late now, but yeah, a simple timer approach is typically fine

Ok, finally got this running in a proper chat client now
