    @Romi-776 I am not a believer in waiting... So go for it... If you see something that needs fixing then give it a try and then open a pull request. If multiple people create pull requests to fix the same issue, it is almost always a learning experience.

    qq: should folks generally work off anything other than master branch as a default?

    i'm asking because Development practices uses the term "hotfix" which I think implies there's a "stable" and a "dev" preference in branches (eg: feature branches should be based off of dev... i do i see a dev branch but also a master-dev branch)?

    Christian Clauss
    @cclauss
    I always start from an up-to-date master and then do git checkout -b my-new-idea and then make modifications. Please do not focus on hotfixs because they are rare.

    scripts/copydocs allows you to bring in books, etc. on legacy Python but not on Py3 internetarchive/openlibrary#4285

    Hi everyone, I started to develop a mobile app for openlibrary, but it seems the API is not completed yet
    for example, I sent a request to get the data for a specific book:
    https://openlibrary.org/api/books?bibkeys=OLID:OL7062714M&jscmd=data&format=json
    but it doesn't contain ratins, reviews, want to read, currently reading, etc.
    also ISBN is missing from the result

    I have a question.
    After setting up the openlibrary locally, we have a limited set of books and data on it then how can we solve that issue which deals with a specific book or other data which is present online on the site but not on our local server?
    Let's take an example of solving this issue locally :-
    Book cover missing #4047
    How can I access the specified book locally?

    Hi Aditya, Thanks for your interest! Our entire wiki should be of interest but https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary/wiki/Google-Summer-of-Code focuses on GSOC. The getting started and getting setup pages should help.

    I'm working on the 2815 issue and have submitted a PR internetarchive/openlibrary#4312 waiting for some feedback on my comments before submitting an updated PR.
    I see that a new person was assigned to this- Does this mean I have to talk with him from now on, in order to have my PR merged?

    Hi everyone! My name is Sumesh and I was trying to contribute to openLibrary. After setting up a local development server and logged in as admin when I go to subjects page it shows /subjects does not exist. Is it just fault in my local server or does it really does not exist in development servers? Thanks for any help
    Sabreen-Parveen
    @Sabreen-Parveen
    Hi Sumesh!
    /subjects page is available on dev, staging, and production but not on a localhost instance.
    Yash Saravgi
    @Yashs911

    @SumeshT http://localhost:8080/subjects page can be generated, but first, you need to import it.

    $ python scripts/copydocs.py "/subjects"

    Hi everyone ! My name is Abhinav Tiwari . I am an second year engineering undergraduate . I would like to contribute in the open library project . I have already set up the development environment and exploring the codebase. I have experience in frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React also backend frameworks like node and Django. @matrix101A
    Hello, so I was exploring the codebase and for some reason the changes on the template files(home/about.html) do not show on my localhost , instead an error is shown or the template disappears form the page completely, the changes to css and js files seem to be working fine . I read that this is due to some kind of caching but could not fix it. Can someone please explain the reason for this and how can I fix it ?

    Hi everyone, I am Mayank Virmani, 3rd year undergrad at Chandigarh University pursuing BE in Computer Science. I have been doing development for an year and MERN stack is the one I focused upon. I figured out open source thing recently and want to dive into it. I would love if I can make even a small contribution to the organization as I am not an expert in development but I am very eager to learn new tech and frameworks. I would be grateful if anybody would guide me through this whole open source world. Thank you
