Hi. I've been having a look at #4492 as a first issue. The only problem I've run into is that my css changes aren't taking effect. I can run make css and the changes take place in page-subject.css, but this altered page-subject doesn't seem to be loaded on my local instance of the app. I've restarted the app etc. to no avail.

@lakshya125 we use a bit of vue in some places, but our main priority is making sure the website's core functionality works even when javascript is disabled.
We want the website to be as reliable, as accessible, and as performant / fast to our audience as possible.
If you have ideas on how we can achieve all three of these things, we're all ears and would love your help! :D

Is there any central and dynamic .bib (a LaTeX-supported bibliography format) repository of all the citations present on the open library?
If yes, how to access it? If no, can this be a potential feature request for the project?

Hey @mekarpeles How much JavaScript skills are required to contribute to Open Library . I am fluent in DOM Manipulation . Are there any contributions I can make ( maybe some issues you could suggest) or do I need to be more of a js expert.
Also do you guys have a slack or any other irc which is more active

@lakshya-dhariwal there are def lots of things you can work on without being a JS expert :) I just opened some issues to add a few links to new documentation if you want to take a swing at one of those. Also happy to chat more about how you can help :)

I had the pleasure of working on the open library under the nickname "tyah" and would like to join the discussions on what needs to be fixed and what has been on the openlibrary but particulary on the editing tools and documentations to improve the editing process

    Hi @gumbol!
Thanks for your contributions and passion ^.^
We have a community call tomorrow at 10am pacific if you're interested in joining. We have a open mic section where we can answer your questions like this one.
At a glance, one thing on the roadmap is opening up author and book merges to more people -- in particular we want to make it so non-librarians can suggest merges into a queue, which are then moderated by librarians

hey! @mekarpeles Thank you for your kind words. I like helping people and designing documents of all kinds. That sounds like a good idea!. Id like to learn more if that can be easly automated by like matching certain metadata or something. Something that could enhance the editing experience is if the editing page included the book intro pages and back cover in a preview without having to navigate out of the page. I would be happy to join the meetup. where will it be. zoom?

Hello! I'd like to help out, but unfortunately I don't know web development. Is there anything I can do to help? Also, the webpage mentions there's interest in accessibility testing, and I've noticed with a screenreader a lot of buttons aren't marked as clickable (and that book info repeats for some reason?).
