    Hello everyone, I am Yash. I am a 2nd year engineering student. I'd like to contribute to the Internet Archive. I am currently learning different web dev related tools and at the same time would like to keep contributing so that I don't get stuck in the learning loop.

    After building images when I run docker-compose up it shows this error. I am currently using Windows 10 Home

    hello @Yashs911, welcome. I am really sorry that you are facing problems with the installation and I cannot help regarding this because I run ubuntu. Currently, windows users have been facing problems with the installation, refer to this issue #3919. I don't think your issue is similar to that but do ask @ArunTeltia, he might help you with this.
    Arun Teltia
    @ArunTeltia
    @nk4456542 I tried to help him but I was not familiar with this error I don't face this issue during installation, One of the reason can be this that on Windows home many services don't work, I remember when I used docker in the home I face similar types of issues so I upgrade my windows from home to pro
    Other than that I don't have many ideas related to this specific error
    https://docs.docker.com/docker-for-windows/install-windows-home/
    In all the windows other than windows 10 pro you need to download a virtual machine and run a Linux instance on it and then download docker

    @Yashs911
    @ArunTeltia After Installing docker it asked me to install wsl_update_x64 and after that docker started working

    @mekarpeles
    Thanks everyone! @Yashs911 it seems like it's now working for you?
    Arun Teltia
    @ArunTeltia
    @Yashs911 Sorry for the late reply I tried to reproduce this error
    I guess you haven't set up the cloned repo using ssh or you don't follow these steps(Check the image)
    https://imgur.com/a/wNpZuMc
    Please try these commands by setting your github with ssh
    https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary/blob/master/docker/README.md
    Please try this and let me know if it works :)
    Yash Saravgi
    @Yashs911
    @mekarpeles docker is working but I still couldn't open localhost:8080
    @ArunTeltia my remote config
    origin git@github.com:Yashs911/openlibrary.git (fetch)
    origin git@github.com:Yashs911/openlibrary.git (push)
    upstream https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary.git (fetch)

    @ArunTeltia

    Have you tried these three commands

    # Configure Git to convert CRLF to LF line endings on commit
    git config --global core.autocrlf input

    # Enable Symlinks
    git config core.symlinks true

    # Reset the repo (removes any changes you've made to files!)
    git reset --hard HEAD

    Open the gitbash with administrator access in the cloned repository location

    I just tried this and it works for me

    New error
    Arun Teltia
    @ArunTeltia
    @Yashs911 can you show the logs for the 3 commands does these 3 command gives an error
    I am asking this because according to the stack overflow this error is because git is unable to covert clrf to lf
    Please refer to this thread :)
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51508150/standard-init-linux-go190-exec-user-process-caused-no-such-file-or-directory
    If these commands executed properly then I am not sure why this is happening
    @mekarpeles sir please check

    @ArunTeltia Do I need to change my upstream link to ssh ?
    Yash Saravgi
    @Yashs911
    @ArunTeltia @mekarpeles I ran 3 command from stackoverflow and it started working
    aa.JPG
    I ran these 3 command

    git config --global core.eol lf

    git config --global core.autocrlf input

    find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 dos2unix

    @Yashs911
    Now everything is running fine but the website still shows an error

    @ArunTeltia
    glad to know that :D
    i am at the same position this is currently an error which is being addressed by @cclauss and @cdrini sir
    Yash Saravgi
    @Yashs911
    But after running those command all files in the repo are modified :(
    Arun Teltia
    @ArunTeltia
    hmmm i only think that affect master branch not the other created branches
    please check the other branches
    Yash Saravgi
    @Yashs911
    I did git reset --hard HEAD
    Even after that everything is running fine so I guess I have successfully completed setting up the openlibrary. Thanks a lot @ArunTeltia I was about to lose all hope and was planning to install virtual box
    Arun Teltia
    @ArunTeltia
    I'm glad I was of any help :D

    anyone who know about this ?

    Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I'm in the right place. If I should be somewhere else, please let me know! I was interested in helping improve text search-ability. I've poked around on the github a bit but haven't seen anything that discusses this specifically. I don't have much coding background (just very basic HTML editing) but I'm starting a digital humanities program soon so I'll be learning anyways, and I'd love to help out. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!
    Mek
    @mekarpeles
    Hi @JMax-J thanks for your interest! What are your thoughts on how we may go about improving text search-ability?
    p.s. Welcome! Great to have you here :tada:
    JMax-J
    @JMax-J
    @mekarpeles Helping to improve whatever OCR software is in use is likely the only way to improve searches within individual texts. Given the volume of materials, human proofreading of OCE'
    R documents isn't viable on it's own**
