    Hi, can anyone shed some light on the Search inside individual book API? Specifically, the docs page talks about finding a work's hostname and item_id with "the archive.org locator service". Does anyone know what this refers to?

    @adarsh1405 the read API returns a status field that should be what you need: https://openlibrary.org/dev/docs/api/read

    @mekarpeles
    @adarsh1405 you can use the openlibrary.org/search.json API with the availability GET param. See: https://openlibrary.org/dev/docs/api/search for an example

    Hello everyone, I think this project is awesome and I'd love to contribute
    I've launched it in gitpod but don't know how I can actually access running services or actually get started
    I see the code loaded up in a cloud IDE of sorts, but don't see how I can run the services or access the web interface of this instance of openlibrary

    @MongoMark

    Was wondering if anyone active can shed some light on an error I'm getting. I'm using curl to call the API to search by ISBN.
    I have an input, the input is sanitized and then splice it into the URL.

    input code
    ISBN= trim(code, '.' 'a')
    lookup = "!curl --silent ":'https://openlibrary.org/api/books?bibkeys=ISBN':ISBN:'&format=json'

    What I expect is the full details of the book so I can parse through it for title, author, publisher etc.
    What I get back is --
    var _OLBookInfo = {"ISBN9781593080174": {"bibkey": "ISBN9781593080174", "info
    url": "https://openlibrary.org/books/OL8870132M/The_Art_of_War", "preview": "bor
    row", "preview_url": "https://archive.org/details/artofwar0000sunz_o9w6", "thumb
    nail_url": "https://covers.openlibrary.org/b/id/869609-S.jpg"}};

    Yet when I hardcode the ISBN into the API url it provides me all the data I was hoping for.

    Hi, I'm looking for a good first issue to work on :) I'm a little confused by the tag on GitHub though. Should I ignore anything with a pull request already?
    Mek
    @mekarpeles
    Hi @patricianicolentan! It's great to have you here :) I agree the good first issue label is still a bit confusing. I'm happy to suggest a good issue. I think in particular some of the accessibility issues are a great place to begin
    And of course if you have questions, I'm happy to reply

    Hello I am Ritesh Soni, a second year student from college IIIT Jabalpur India. I am new to open source and looking forward to contributing to the organization Openlibrary. I am facing some issues in setting up the development environment.

    I have followed all the instruction from
    https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary/blob/master/docker/README.md

    I am using Windows,
    I ran the command “docker-compose build“ in git bash terminal.
    After that I ran the command “docker-compose up” as said in the instruction to start the app.
    I am getting this error in this

    ERROR: for home Cannot create container for service home: failed to mkdir /var/lib/docker/volumes/openlibrary_ol-vendor/_data/infogami: mkdir /var/lib/docker/volumes/openlibrary_ol-vendor/_data/infogami: file exists
    Encountered errors while bringing up the project.

    Please can someone here help me to resolve this issue.

    does anyone know about promising initiatives around aggregating 'holding information' (i.e. recording where you could find a particular book physically)? Is WorldCat the only game in town? I saw library.link but I'm not sure how active it is.
