Hi @martellalex, you are definitely right that Thunder is a separate network and assets cannot move between Ethereum and Thunder without some sort of bridge or exchange.
@hughkimau thanks for helping out with answering the questions!
Will you be developing a bridge so thunder is interopable with other blockchain networks such as ethereum? Or using other interopable chains such as aion?
it's not something in the immediate roadmap since we are very much focused on shipping Thunder itself, but certainly something we'd like to explore down the road
Thanks @derekchiang makes sense
chung chan hai
is thunder another public chain try to tackle scalability with new consensus
@chungchanhai_twitter yes. tho we are EVM-compatible too, so existing languages (e.g. solidity) and tools (e.g. truffle) just work
@derekchiang will Thunder be able to run a WASM VM or just EVM?
Hi @derekchiang. Sent you an email.
@lleaff currently just EVM, but I would imagine that Thunder will support WASM at some point too
What are the key changes from the original white paper, that are no longer relevant in the latest iteration of the Thunder project that can be discussed?
When do you expect testnet to launch?
I believe end of June was the target and the telegram admins are mentioning August? What has changed in the last week to cause such delays?
What's the testnet included? I believe Thunder develop a fast path (sort of sidechain to a slow chain/mainchain?) so does that mean your testnet will include both fash path and your own slow chain, or you will use ethereum as a slowchain?
PwrMvs - the testnet has already launched privately.
To a close knit group of developers. With a larger scale launch for interested developers starting in July - not August.
@akadia00_twitter the testnet in the first instance will be a fast path built on top of the Ethereum network.
So as you’ve suggested - the Ethereum network will be used as a ‘slow chain’ initially.
What Dominic said about the launch timeline is correct
Tho the testnet itself won't have the slow path, at least not initially. the slow path will be supported when mainnet launches. and yes, the first version of the slow path will be built on ethereum
@derekchiang would a random beacon be a consideration when selecting a committee?
I believe that's to be researched
Are we talking about using the NIST Randomness Beacon to (hopefully) select from a pool of recent miners to form the committee on the fast-path?
something like that, yeah, but probably won't be NIST as that's relying on a central service
@hughkimau I believe it will be something like verifiable random functions or distributed randomness protocol.
@blosz Nah, Thunder is a hybrid on-chain off-chain solution. It doesn’t use sharding to achieve scalability. Though it’s solution can be applied over a sharded blockchain. It’s better to think of Thunder as an accelerator for almost any blockchainz
Also any current performance is reflective of a single shard.
It would logically be expected that performance would increase even further after a form of sharding is implemented.
Hi @/all - saw your fork of Cheshire and learned about Thunder - very cool stuff. Wanted to let you know that we pushed a couple small fixes to Cheshire that you should bring into your fork.
Also, we've been exploring dApp scaling solutions, and would love to try Thunder. Any way we can get testnet access?
@eugeneotto Sent you a DM
@/all We're moving to Discord! You can join via this link https://discordapp.com/invite/5EbxXfw . Let me know if there's any issues. We'll keep this channel open until next Friday to make sure everyone makes the switch over.
Is the testnet still set to be launched publicly this month?
Dear guys..thank you for vrery high level discuspion here every time.
i am always lookiog foward to new info and discussion
@PwrMvs Take a look at the ThunderCore website ;)
Hello! Congratulations on the testnet launch!! Will committee members / consensus nodes earn inflation funded block rewards for confirming / verifying transactions on the fast path PoS-based chain?
Additionally, what is the planned monetary policy for Thunder Tokens (TTs)?
Hey Jonathan! Thanks for the questions. We're hoping to migrate all conversations to our discord; so you'd probably get a much faster response if you were to ask there :)
