Hello
Yes, it's me Timo
Do you need something?
If you need something from me please write me an email tuxtimo@gmail.com If you have an issue with w1thermsensor which could be interesting to others please open an issue on github!

Sorry... I was having issues with the temperature sensing but it is working now :)

Hello - I am new to GitHub so I apologize if this has been asked. (I did look for it) I am trying to install w1thermistor on my Pi. The results are pi@WPi01 ~ $ python -V
Python 2.7.3
pi@WPi01 ~ $ sudo apt-get install python-w1thermsensor
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package python-w1thermsensor
Am I missing a step?
Thanks.

It's probalby not in the apt repos of your raspbian. Use pip to install it!
pip install w1thermsensor

Wow - thanks for the quick response. The pip install did the trick - thank you!
This module is what I have been looking for.

Timo, I am using RPI3, and trying to detect and gather temp data from a ds28ea00. I installed the w1thermsensor. I keep getting error "raise NoSensorFoundError("unknown","")." At this point, I believe my sensor is connected correctly, (pin7, gpio4). Have you tried running the program using ds28ea00? Do you have any experience with this problem?
Timo Furrer
@timofurrer
Did you find a solution?

@josephtech1
Hi Timo!
Yes, it was a wiring problem
I did notice that the w1thermsensor does not support the sequence detection feature for the ds28ea00. Am I missing something?
I was able to retrieve ids and temps for all six sensors, but not sequence
Timo Furrer
@timofurrer
that's good news
nope, currently that's not supported
you are more than welcome to submit a PR with that feature
I don't have a DS28EA00 - thus, I cannot really test it
Chaim Krause
@tinjaw
just apt-get install and run?
Tried that and got NoSensorFoundError
Chaim Krause
@tinjaw
OK, got it working (I think) after altering /boot/config.txt
Timo Furrer
@timofurrer
okay
I don't provide any wiring instructions
there are enough out there :)
Adafruit has some decent, too
do you get any temperatures?
Chaim Krause
@tinjaw
thx
yes, temps working
thx for your library
Timo Furrer
@timofurrer
:thumbsup:
great!

@tinjaw
you take tips/donations? You want a coffee?
Timo Furrer
@timofurrer
If you have any problems with the library itself, let me know
No, I don't :)
You are welcome!

@tinjaw
name an open source project you use. I will donate $5 to it.

If you ever happen to meet me - you can pay me that coffee ;)
The pypa
They can use it
thanks for that

I have got temperature readings working (had been using other methods for over a year not sure why when you have this simpler approach). However cannot get the precision change to work with some DS18B20s either from Python3 script or the command line.
and also I have great difficulty understanding the required format to call functions for w1thermsensor from python3. There seem to be various data available such as 'hwid', 'temperature', 'type' etc. and I cannot find any documentation that explains how to get the different parameters simply from within code that is scanning through a set of sensors. Is there some document somewhere or an explanation. On git hub the item that says "docs" is written in some sort of format I cannot understand at all.
