if it’s a middleware you can put it under config/web.js to be loaded at start

How to log all request response in trails.js
Jaumard
@jaumard
I guess with your morgan stuff you can ^^
kevinpatel6606
@kevinpatel6606
any other option without morgan
Jaumard
@jaumard
I never did it personaly, you can create a simple middleware and just log what you need with Trails logger
kevinpatel6606
@kevinpatel6606
okay thank you
Weyert de Boer
@weyert
@jaumard Still using Trails or are you going to migrate to Fabrix?
Jaumard
@jaumard
@weyert my personnal website and my home automation system is done with Trails, I don’t know yet if I’ll stay with Trails or not as I don’t have much more free time to work on personnal stuff for now :/ but I guess if there no more core maintainers in Trails the answer is obvious… :/
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
We can always add maintainers to trails if people are interested. A lot of the fixes for v3 are implemented in fabrix, so they could be ported over. The project has a ton of stars, and a huge ecosystem.
Weyert de Boer
@weyert
That's true :) I quite liked it, and don't think much is wrong with it 😇

@scott-wyatt feel sad as Trails being orphan, but good to hear that you're transforming it for a better innovation. happy to help you always.

Even I was planning to start opensource Typescript based framework, but now busy with my product. so will be happy to support you.

Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
Thanks @Nishchit14! It’s not totally orphaned as v2 works really well.
Satish Lakhani
@Satish-Lakhani
Hi, I'm starting with learning trails, but i'm getting below error, whats the issue here?
Error: config.web.express is absent, please npm install your express version (4 or 5) and uncomment the line under config.web.express
any idea?
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
Hello @Satish-Lakhani, you’ll need to install express like ‘npm install express —save’ however, you may want to checkout fabrix, it’s a reboot for trails as active development has stalled on trails.
Jesús Ibáñez
@jesus-ibanez

Hello @jaumard, using trailpack-acl with FootprintController on models it works fine but with my own controllers does not, having my policies as follows:

FootprintController: [ 'CheckPermissions.checkModel' ],
MyOwnController: [ 'CheckPermissions.checkModel' ]

Reviewing the code at https://github.com/jaumard/trailpack-acl/blob/c705f99e16c265a79050f2c22b734735468ffc85/api/policies/CheckPermissions.js#L12 the req.params for model is empty, any clue on how to solve this?

Regards

Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
You would need to have {model} specified as a route param
In your router config
Jesús Ibáñez
@jesus-ibanez
thanks a lot @scott-wyatt , now it works
Jesús Ibáñez
@jesus-ibanez
Is there a way to set default value of param in router config?
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
I’m actually not sure about that, but you could do that in the controller or something
Kerwood
@Kerwood
Hi.. Is Trails still being developed on ?.. I noticed that there hasn't really been any commits on the master branch lately.
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
Hi @Kerwood trails v2 is stable, and it will get patched for security updates. Trails v3 hasn’t seen any active development in some time. If you like the concept of trails, maybe checkout https://github.com/fabrix-app. It’s very similar to trails v3, but written in typescript (although it can be used in regular JavaScript as well). You’ll find me very active over there and it has over 40 spools (the fabrix version of trailpacks).
Roberto Wesley Overdijk
@RWOverdijk

@scott-wyatt You've shown me yours, I'll show you mine: https://stix.netlify.com (https://github.com/SpoonX/stix)

Really like what you've created. Terminology wise it's a lot of fun. Why are your docs down?

Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
Hi @RWOverdijk very cool! Sadly, I don’t have control over the trails websites so I’m really sorry it’s down. I’m still working on the Fabrix website. The trails docs are still available through github. Please feel to join the fabrix channel at https://gitter.im/fabrix-app/Lobby. I’m super interested in creating spools for Wetland. I wonder if there is a cool way that we can get SpoonX and Fabrix being best friends!
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
I’m just reading through all the docs, and I don’t see an issue with Fabrix being able to run Stix as a spool, that could be a fun hackathon.
Roberto Wesley Overdijk
@RWOverdijk
@scott-wyatt I meant the fabrix docs :)
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
Hmmm, https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/fabrix.app, It’s technically a PWA without all the bugs worked through haha, so perhaps it’s cacheing issue?
Roberto Wesley Overdijk
@RWOverdijk
Perhaps. The links in the repo give me a "not found"
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
That’s definately a possibility, there are a bunch of links I still need to find and migrate

So trails peeps, I've been a huge fan of trails. I've used it in many many projects. Since @scott-wyatt is moving on though, I've decided to move on as well and find a good alternative that is backed by a large team. I've come to really love loopback v4 (I've always hated loopback, but v4 has been rebuilt from the ground up, and it's very good). I recommend anyone looking for an alternative to check it out.
I made an into video on Loopback v4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDGcFWv9IPA&t=48s
And by all means, I'm not dissing trails. Trails was and is great. This is only for those actively looking for an alternative.
Thanks so much for your hard work @scott-wyatt

Hello everybody. I have a problem, when I try to create a trailpack in windows 7 with the version generator-trailpack@2.0.0-rc2. just ask me the Module Name and there it stays for a long time and not continue. Someone knows why it happens?
Scott B. Wyatt
@scott-wyatt
could be a node version issue, but I’m unsure (I don’t use windows)
Alejandro Esparza
@esparzaja_gitlab
Thanks for answered @scott-wyatt.
I have the version 10.15.3. I'll keep looking the solution

@scott-wyatt
