xsh started hanging on me today (on MacOS 10.13.2). Anybody else experiencing this? I tried re-installing, but it hangs on the setup phase.
Brad Beck
@bradbeck
Looks like it is hanging trying to attach the emacsclient (GNU Emacs 25.3.1)
Reverting to GNU Emacs 22.1.1 seems to have resolved the hang.

@bradbeck
I was wrong, it still hangs.

Appears to have been broken by ruby 2.5.0 via homebrew on macOS.

I keep trying this thing but fail at certain parts and have to continuously restart.
Gonna try this again. I think that it was me who screwed it up.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/xiki/xikihub-the-social-command-line aww I just barely found out about this project. Was looking to see for some alternate shells
in alternativeto.net than that lead me to here :D
But I am just curious whether or not the original dev was able to gather the funds he needed, because from what I saw, he did not meet the goal.
is he going to be able to still work on this and get it done close to the due date, how much progress has been done?

I am really loving xsh, it would be awesome if that xikihub concept were fully working.
I hope the project is not dead, even with what you have so far, it is simply amazing.
I am not sure if its simply because I am using it in Windows Subsystem Linux, but for some odd reason when I run the commands to install stuff. It doesn't want to. Gives me very specific errors, I am quite sure it is related to wsl I am going to spin up a VM and see if that is it.

has anyone been able to make vim work with xiki. Because the note that there is in the github link, to add those two lines simply doesn't work https://github.com/trogdoro/xiki/blob/master/misc/vim/vim_status.notes I am talking about this particularly
if the dev ever shows up on here, I would not mind supporting your efforts :( so sad that this was not funded man.
sometimes having a lower kickstarter fund helps you get much more fundind.
than you would otherwise get, its just something that I have noticed.
the whole %10000 over funded, helps kick your project to the top.
you can only do that when you underwhelm what you expect for the project to take place. Like I said DM me, or anything I can be able to do to help the effort. I am not really much of an emacs user.

Hi all! I tried the xsh tutorial, but I am a bit confused.
And frustrated.
I don't have a clear view in which case what should happen.
I need some explanation of some basic concepts.
I have many years of linux experience. Ok, I don't use emacs, I use vim, but I don't think that would be the problem.

  1. So, is there a place where the wiki syntax is explained in one go?

2. I'd like to start to use xiki as a regular wiki as a start. What is the minimum info for that?

Did anyone ever figure out the Ruby 2.5 issue on Mac? Seems like that is blocking me at the moment. I'm pretty sure I have 2.5 because of some other dependency so I can't really revert...

nvm... a little reading is a wonderful thing :smile:

Hi, I just installed xiki with the curl command line on the web page, and when I run "xsh tutorial" I get a screen that says
$ tutorial
  | bash: line 16: tutorial: command not found
i'm not sure what file it's referring to when it says "line 16". Certainly not the xsh starter script, cause that line is empty.

Hello guys! Don't know if it's just me but I'm unable to install xsh using the I've line command given in the README on GitHub. Neither does the manual install work. I tried running bin/xsh -xsh/setup as well but that didn't work either. Could you help me out?

Getting ready to launch a new kickstarter campaign, for markdown support and searching support. I'm looking to get Xiki going again, after having a baby and taking a break for a while.

@Anirudh-C
Could you also checkout the install? I guess it's not working for newer versions of ruby

Will see what I can do. At the moment I'm pretty focused on the campaign.
