@tshaddix
Ah yes...
so you’re logged in as root to the machine, right?
So one thing we can do is include the bower packages by default so that you don’t need to run the command. That could work
@dna75 sorry forgot to tag
@dna75 If you do a recent pull, you no longer need to do the bower command. Bower components are included

@dna75

@tshaddix mmmm I'm not the SSH king as you see ;) But when I run 'node app' i'll get;oocharts-server]# node app

@tshaddix
did you run npm install?
:)
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
When I try that;

Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
hmmm
@dna75 is it another sudo problem?
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
@tshaddix I don't know... to be honest
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
What is the error when you run npm install?
Nanne Dijkstra

@tshaddix
oh are you inside oocharts-server when you run that?
cd oocharts-server
npm install
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
That was it!!
Got it up and runnig
running
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
Awesome!
Let me know if you run into anything else!
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
I will thanks for you patience...
Oh how do I stop the node app? Last question of the day
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
ahh okay well you should be able to do ctrl+c
but if you want to run it in the background, which you should on a server
install forever:
npm install -g forever
then, use forever start app.js
and when you want to shut it down, just run forever stopAll
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
I'll write this down
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
eventually i will do that too haha
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
:) thanks!
@tshaddix I'm gonna test now if my stats show up!
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
Haha sounds great! :)
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
@tshaddix Thanks for all your help and support! Learned a lot about several things and also got it running now and showing my stats on my server! Very cool stuff!
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
@dna75 no problem! I’m always happy to help! :)
Karl Equi
@karleq
@tshaddix Thanks for this run through. Just finished setting it up on Digital Ocean Ubuntu 14.04 - Only real issue was installing bower.
I needed to do this: 'ln -s /usr/bin/nodejs /usr/bin/node' to get round the node/nodejs naming quirk in Ubuntu (I think).
Other than that the rest of it seemed to go OK and dynamic charts are flowing!
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix

@karleq Wow I was never notified of a new message. Sorry!

Glad to hear it is working for you! I will make note of that when I do the "Official Documentation"!

@vmandrak
Hi, there. I'm interested in setting up an edge server. Could you please provide me with some more info cause the dropbox link isn't working? Thanx...
f0ppa
@f0ppa
I'm also interesting in setting up a server, so it would be great if you could provide a short guide.
vmandrak
@vmandrak
I've followed every single step on one guide you've been working on and managed to have a working droplet with it's DNS and google account settings also working. The thing is that at each and every request sent to my oocharts-server i get the following error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5aheevl1vvirkh/%CE%A3%CF%84%CE%B9%CE%B3%CE%BC%CE%B9%CF%8C%CF%84%CF%85%CF%80%CE%BF%202014-12-03%2C%206.29.15%20%CE%BC.%CE%BC..png?dl=0
Any clues? Anybody?
Nanne Dijkstra
@dna75
@vmandrak I download the video and put it online in my dropbox. You can view the video https://www.dropbox.com/s/ymcq5t2qnj03z7m/Instructie%20video%20OOcharts%20-%20edge.mp4?dl=0

@tshaddix
Hey everyone. Gitter is really lagging on notifications. Who still needs help??
jondavis0787
@jondavis0787
Will there be a database for this soon so we can use one app for multiple apis?
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
@jondavis0787 Can you expand on this a bit? You mean like including the RealTime API?
jondavis0787
@jondavis0787
yea for realtime api instead of installing another node.js app on top of each other
Tyler Shaddix
@tshaddix
@jondavis0787 Got it. At this time I have not pursued any additional API connections. Pretty locked down with work atm.
