doesnt look like a code issue... looks like something isnt being included in your pen
also, you dont need a </img> tag, <img> tags are self closing
ex: <img src="image.png" />

I guess I'm slow or something, but there's # in place of an address if that's what you're talking about. I am confused in general because this is a step-by-step instructed free-form project on codecademy. Which is cool and all but I doubt it's Simon's first. The only reason I asking Simon this is because, I like to talk to him about my perspective of codecademy and free code bootcamp and how I'm sharpening my skills much quicker than codecademy.

Hello, I am having issues understanding bootstrap. I am trying to get my buttons to be right next to eachother. 1px seperation. I am able to get it to work in codepen, but when I tried to transition it to plunker or brackets, the padding between buttons will not go away. did I forget something?

@brishirley you're using columns encapsulating your buttons which has its own predefine properties(margin,padding,etc) . What you could do is override those properties or take them out of <div class="col-xs-4">
To get to what you want via override; add this
<style>
    .col-xs-4{
      padding:1px;
    }
  </style>

oh cool, but that has to be added to the HTML File. I tried adding that in the style.css and it did nothing. Adding it to the HTML file does do it. @kjvelarde

You might put your custom style underneath the bootstrap file
@brishirley You might put your custom style underneath the bootstrap file... so you don't have to put it directly into the html

@CarloSantos07 can you elaborate? I'm not quite sure what you mean

@brishirley for overrides it would be best to seperate it. it's not exactly a bad practice but if can be avoided; it's best to avoid it or else you would be putting override after override on the bottom of your style sheet. It also depends on the scope of it.

true. I'm just confused by it. In Codepen.io I have it working great. If I copy/paste the code anywhere else, the output has spacing that is unneeded. And I don't understand why. Here is my Codepen if you want to compare. This file is more complete. but again, copy/pasting the code doesn't transfer over the only 1px space. https://codepen.io/brishirley/full/WRzLMw/

@brishirley because you have the bootrap cdn and your style.css ordered in this way --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css">
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" integrity="sha384-BVYiiSIFeK1dGmJRAkycuHAHRg32OmUcww7on3RYdg4Va+PmSTsz/K68vbdEjh4u" crossorigin="anonymous">

@lukepighetti No, you only specify multiple different column sizes on different viewports if you want them to be different. let's say you wanted mobile to have 3 columns then you would just do the 'xs-3' and it'll do the same for the other viewports but if you want 2 column for bigger screen then u specify 'xs-3' and 'lg-6'.
CarloSantos07
@CarloSantos07
Feb 15 2017 17:52
@brishirley link your bootsrap cdn first then your custom style.css so when you make changes your style.css overides the bootsrap
kjvelarde
@kjvelarde
Feb 15 2017 17:55
@brishirley lol when all else fail you could do this
bootstrap.css
plugin1.css
plugin2.css
override.css

in override.css
<style>
    .col-xs-4{
      padding:1px !important;
    }
  </style>
