    Hi there, I am an assistant professor from Beihang University. Our team is doing a study about GSoC mentors, aiming to understand the motivations, challenges, strategies, and gains of GSoC mentors (https://sites.google.com/view/xintan/homepage/ongoing-research). To this end, we designed a questionnaire and sincerely invite GSoC mentors to participate in this survey. Your feedback is very important for us.

    If you are interested in this study, welcome to join our follow-up interview! Thank you very much!

    Heyy there!
    I'm USVSN SAI PRASHANTH, one of the collaborators at EleutherAI. I am one of the authors of 3 research papers currently being prepared. I have been involved in identifying that there is no correlation between the order of training data and memorization capabilities of large language models (125M parameters - 10B parameters). I was also involved in preparing and sampling a huge dataset (biscience/P3) to a megatron (autoregressive models training module) compatible format to be finetuned on a model like gpt-3, 20B parameters.

    I worked with huge compute resources. Along with this, I also have many cool side projects in diverse areas like android development, web development, vscode etc.

    It would be an honor to contribute to your organization. Happy to join this community :)
    PS: I also do a lil bit of competitive programming as a hobby
    Languages known: C, C++, Python, Kotlin and many more

    I would love to bring natural language processing into uccross
    any directions for the same would be highly appreciated

    Asavari Ambavane
    @AsavariA

    Hi, I am Asavari Ambavane, a third year undergraduate at VJTI, Mumbai. I am passionate about the field of software development, niching down to web development, and am proficient in technologies and languages such as React JS, JavaScript, NodeJS, NextJS etc. I also have a good hold over functions of REST APIs as well. I have worked on a lot of projects and developed many websites over the course of my college term. I am looking forward to growing and developing these skills more and more by contributing to open source.

    Developing a website for Polyphorm was the idea in the pool that piqued my interest and resonated with my requirements as a contributor. The project description on the Github is clear, however, I wanted to know if there were any issues or more descriptive references for the proposed deliverables.

    Cheers!

    Stephanie Lieggi
    @slieggi
    Hi Asavari (@asavariA) -- I would reach out directly to the mentor Oskar to check in with him on the details.
    Less than a week until the GSoC proposals are due. Please remember that the GSoC deadlines are strict. In past years I have suggested that students upload their proposals a full day before the deadline even if they still need a little work as in the previous platform you could always upload revisions until the deadline. I believe that is still doable on the new platform (if anyone else knows for sure please advise.) I would highly highly advises uploading whatever you have a day ahead -- even if it isn't perfect -- so that you can at least be considered.
    Also -- if you are still having issues with mentors not getting back to you please DM or email me (slieggi@ucsc.edu) .. I will put on the pressure :-)

    We are asking all proposals to be submitted via the GSoC portal.

    @Riddhi9570
    @slieggi I am interested in developing a dedicated website for PolyPhy. I have contacted to the mentor Oskar Elek. But he asked me to reach out to another mentor if available since he already have several applicants for the project and don't have time to help develop another proposal. So whom should I contact now? I know I have very less time but I am eager to contribute and won't give up until the deadline.
    Stephanie Lieggi
    @slieggi
    @Riddhi9570 have you looked at any of the other projects? Are you specifically interested in website design or are their other types of projects that you would like to tryout? Although it is pretty late in the game there are a few mentors who are still able to take on additional reviews -- just need to know what you are looking for
    Riddhi Bhagat
    @Riddhi9570
    I am interested in website design, but I would also be equally happy to contribute to other projects if they are available. Please do let me know about them.
