    Hi everyone ... just to let you know that we put in our application to be a mentor organization last week. We find out if we were successful on February 20. We have an ideas page (https://github.com/uccross/uccross.github.io/blob/master/gsoc20.md) already up and you can review our application guidelines here https://cross.ucsc.edu/programs/gsoc_application_template.html . Figures crossed we will be part of GSoC again this year.

    Hi, I am Aniket, a 2nd-year undergraduate student in Computer Science (B.Tech). I am quite interested in the Workflow Viewer and Editor project of Popper. This project caught my eye as it blends with my skills in web development and UI design. I would love to contribute and am currently studying the repository. I would appreciate some help for a better and quick understanding. Thank you in anticipation!

    Hi! I am Manas Mangaonkar i was looking at the ideas list and the "Add support for additional container engines" looks interesting to me because of containerization. I am a Third year CSE student at the University of Mumbai, Successfully Completed Gsoc 2019 with Fedora,have been a foss contributor since summer 18. Proficient with Python,Bash and Go. would love some more info on the project/idea.

    @ivotron
    welcome @Pac23 . Please take a look at the https://gitter.im/falsifiable-us/popper channel, where you can ask any question about that project. We also have an open issue regarding podman: systemslab/popper#704 . But you could start with something easier like one of the issues marked as good first issue.
    Pac23
    @Pac23
    Thank you @ivotron for pointing to the good firsts issues.I'll check them out and get back asap.

    Hello all -- thanks for all your interest in CROSS. I wanted to let you know that we did not get picked as a mentor organization this year. The competition is tough so it was bound to happen one year -- but we are pretty disappointed. That said, we are collaborating with a number of organizations that have been accepted this year so we may be able to have them be an umbrella organization for some of our projects. So please stay active and engaged with us -- and we will keep you informed via this channel if we may have the opportunity to participate that way! Also, our projects are all active and will continue to be needing contributors over the summer, so please feel free to keep in contact with any of our mentors whose project you are interested in. And we will definitely be applying again next year!!

    @edeediong
    Thanks @slieggi ... I'm pretty sad to that CROSS wasn't selected as a mentor organization. I'm still gonna contribute though. The "Add Support for additional container engines" is very interesting to me

    Saurabh Rai
    @srbhr
    @jlefevre is there any other way to contact the UCCROSS team? I want to see and contribute to the projects you have. But I am not interested in GSOC this time.
    Can you invite me to other UCCROSS channels or Gitter/IRC?
    Stephanie Lieggi
    @slieggi
    Hi @srbhr .. I think the best way to contribute to our projects is to contact the project leaders directly. I think they each have their own way of communicating with contributors.
    Saurabh Rai
    @srbhr
    Okay yes. I'm doing that! ^^

    Hello, I am Sumalyo, Electronics Engineering undergrad, from India. The OSAVC project really looks interesting and I guess as someone involved in embedded systems and robotics I really look forward to contributing to this project. Just a thing....on the page there is no repo mentioned just yet ....so any idea where I can get started off?? Has any work been done before in this project or do I start from scratch? There is a mailing address provided ...is it too early to mail the mentors ??

    It will be the best time learning this how computers can gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos, blob detection, as they are very interested and also contributing to open source, is nice forever in my life like after this summer also we get interested(computer vision) to contribute this open-source.

    If you want to give any suggestions feel free to contact me or please do guide me.

    @Sumalyo -- sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you. please go ahead and email the mentor (Aaron Hunter) about that. He should be able to get you the right track
    @rajchem the LGraph and LNAST project are being mentored by Jose and Sheng-hong. Their emails are on the ideas page. Reaching out to them directly about which idea you are particularly interested in or with questions about their project is the best way to start

    Hello,I'm Siddharth I would like to contribute in Open Source Autonomous Vehicle Controller
    I have exposure of control application for embedded systems and like to enhance more by implementing and applying my current knowledge to subprojects (OSAVC)
    like Vehicle/Craft sensor driver development(embedded protocol implementation)

    And for rest I need to study more about control schemes that would use in these projects ( as I have only implementation ideas of PID and MPC )

    IMU calibration algorithm development
    State estimation/sensor fusion algorithm development
    Vehicle dynamic model development
    @slieggi (Stephanie Lieggi)
    Also like to know the subprojects under(OSAVC) are falling into same proposal or separate
    Is there any other communication channel for OSAVC other than mail as I'm unable to reach to concern mentor to get more info and directional headstart with some suggestions

    Hi fellow developers, I am Hardik and looking forward to contribute and delve into the Open Source Autonomous Vehicle Controller project as part of GSOC'21 or even without it.
    I am experienced in Python3, ML, DL along with MERN stack development and well versed with the operations in autonomous vehicles. I am really looking forward to extend my knowledge in this domain.
    I would like to ask about any pre tasks etc. available so that I can get going and get acquainted with the code base

I would love to contribute and learn more about it. I am in a student robotics team in my university and have some hands-on experience working with sensors like LiDARs, IMUs and Stereo Cameras as well as single board computers. I am excited to delve deeper into the field. If anyone has the link for the repo so I can get started, please let me know :)

    Hi,
    I had a query regarding the proposal format. The given format lists the following subcategories under 'Implementation':

    1. Methodology
    2. Technical elements
    3. Solutions

    Since the methodology itself may include the proposed solutions and their technical aspects, is there a hard requirement to stick to the format, or can I have a little flexibility here to combine the sub-categories?
