[Evan Sims] haha yeah. it's a pain. I've learned to be a stickler about backups, luckily. paranoia level. every hour. heh.
[Evan Sims] restores always take forever, but could be worse.

[Robbie Mackay, Ushahidi] yup
[Robbie Mackay, Ushahidi] I need to up my backup game. I have a simple timemachine backup to a cheap NAS.. need to start spinning up secondary backups off the NAS too
[Robbie Mackay, Ushahidi] especially as photos etc will start to only live on the NAS soon-ish. SSD means not so much room on the laptop itself.
[Robbie Mackay, Ushahidi] @EvanSimsGuest what'd you use for back up software?

[Evan Sims] @Robbie I use Carbon Copy Cloner for full system backups, and Arq for offsite backups to Google Cloud Storage (their Amazon Glacier competitor; super cheap) of specific stuff like projects, photo libraries, etc. I use BitTorrent Sync to keep backups in sync locally across machines, so it's sort of a distributed NAS situation.
[Evan Sims] I'm out for the evenin', talk to you all tomorrow :)

[Brian Herbert, Ushahidi] You got a prosthetic?
[Evan Sims] Yup. 3D printing has come a long way. It even has a little laser pointer hidden in there. And a death ray.
[Brian Herbert, Ushahidi] That's hawt
[Evan Sims] That's just how I roll, buddy.
[Evan Sims] Also, get in the car and drive over. I need someone to see this with. The family will understand.
