[Jess Shorland, Ushahidi] hey @all -- i'm on and off flights most of the afternoon into the night, so I'll be offline a lot. Here's what I'm working on today:
  • putting crowdmap data analysis and implications for cloud into google slides and onto basecamp so it's discoverable in the future
    • giving feedback on platform language/value props/landing pages on basecamp (charlie's wireframes)
    • going through @Vaibhav 's notes on data viz work with sophie and brandon to prep for our debrief on that
    • I exported all current open phab tasks into excel and will be prioritizing all of them to go over with @Robbie next week

and to leave something cooler in the space than ‘angry chick fights are bad’, I was just writing up the story of what followed to one day share with my grandkids or whatever, and thought I should share here:
"It was an odd scene. Sunday morning sometime around 4am, and I'm sitting with a friend on the floor (its where the outlet was so we could charge her phone) of the local police station (whole other story) and I'm hugging her and rubbing her back. We're both sporting intense tribal-warrior facepaint, I'm wearing raver clothes, and have helium filled balloons tied to my arms. She was covered in her own blood to the point that her blue dress was turned purple (same 'whole other story'). On their way out of the station, a young guy comes and sits beside us, his friend in tow. He gently takes my friend's hand and slowly strokes it. He says (paraphrasing from ptgse here) "my dear, your life will be better tomorrow and its going to keep getting better. I promise... I just know it. And to remind you of this, I want you to have this" and he takes a well-worn wooden-beaded bracelet from his wrist, and slips it onto hers. Then without fanfare, he gets up and he and his friend walk off into the night."
